I was contacted by a man calling himself "Sam Jordan" representing "Microsoft Office" or "Dell Computer" claiming my machine was infected with a virus. After allowing the technician remote access to my machine, he showed me "Infected" files in a list on a black screen. I am not very computer-literate, so the image looked legitimate to me. However, as soon as the "Cleanup" was done, I was given a bill of $269.99.

As a result of this unusual series of events, I contacted a local Computer Technician, and requested he run a check on my machine. He discovered several suspicious programs and files had been installed without my knowledge. Now certain of fraud, I asked him to delve deeper into the "technician"s ostensible website.

After in-depth research, including a domain name background check, the website was revealed to be fraudulent. The profile pictures in the "Testimonials" section are all stock photographs from popular stock photo websites. The "Products" advertised are simply images of branded and well-known products with their identifying marks removed. The "Expert Comments" profile pictures are also fictional. Also, a careful reading of the wording on the website reveals glaring grammatical and contextual errors, as well as poor word choices, and spelling. Finally, most damming, the "Products" advertised do not exist, and instead only links that go nowhere are present.

Finally, the website is registered by "Domains By Proxy, LLC" a company indicted several times on this very website for fraudulent activity, and the domain name was registered only a few weeks ago, as of the time of this writing.
