In july of 2005 i was looking at my husbands bank account and noticed some discrepencies with his account. Apon further review i noticed that as far back as september 2004 this company 1rate.com/Billing communications had been billing his account. Some times even withdrawing up tp $100 dollars a month.

On our bank statement may-june 05 they were using 0999-0997 for there withdraw 49.95 each time. Sept-april 05 they had a 440-356-2501, 1rate.com. They took out almost 800.

I called the number listed, and the recording said that the line is being tested. Next i got online and found out they were a long distance carrier. Let me add that we pay MCI each month for long distance. So not only did we pay them for long distance, but we we paid MCI each month too. MCI sent us a bill each month detailing our calls.

I was unable to speak with anyone on my own. So I called The ohio consumer council, recieved a different phone number from them along with a number and ext. I called the number 800-917-6100 ext 200 like 5 times each time i got hung up on. So i called the rep from the OCC and she called the number on three way.

A person at communication billing answered she said no refunds and added that he(my husband) had been recorded. I listened to the recording. To my amazement my husbend was recorded. The conversation on the tape and what he told my husband were 2 different things. On the recording they also added an offer for unlimited long distance offered by 1rate.com. Before i was so rudley rushed into the recording i asked the lady why i did not recieve a bill from 1rate. She told me that my bank statement was the bill. So if i wouldn't have noticed this on my statement they would still be taking money out 3 months later. The communications billing place whos representive claimed that the government was granting my husband 5000 dollars if he paid 500. My husband has paid the 500 and did not recieve 5000, but instead got a book of grants for each state. Ohio is listed maybe 5 times in the book. If you break it down we basically paid 100 dollars for each number.

This company has made us deplete our savings and go into dept. I'm sure our family isn't the only one being ripped off. Now days we are dealing with terrorism, natural disasters, and Americans ripping off americans in our own homes. This is not fair to people.

If anyone else has had this happen to them please report these people.
