1st Credit Of America - Clear credit Ripoff, Extortion Chicago Illinois

On July 27, 2005 1st credit of America called to inform me that Clearcredit had filed a claim against me for unpaid services and asked if I would like to settle this. The person was named John Puckett.

After informing Puckett that I cancelled that service he told me that the charge was for a cancellation fee and that if this was not settled by today they would report this to all three credit agencies. Puckett said total charges including their service fee came out to $64.95 USD. He was able to read back my social security, old address and the first four numbers of my Visa.

Believing that is was legit I agreed to pay the 64.95. After given oral consent to be charged I was given a verification umber 455176 and transfered to Scott Smykal. Before being transferred I asked Puckett why no attempts to contact me about these charges were made and he said he knew nothing and told me that all he had was the city where the claim came from which was San Mateo.

I was then transferred to Scott Smykal who verified my billing info and gave me a verification number 427079. He said I would be mailed written confrimation that this was all settled. In trying to contact clearcredit all methods of contact were not working. The phone number was out of order and so was submitting forms.

After beliving I was riped off I tried 1st website but it was non-operation. I immediatly reported all this information to the FTC, The BBB and Internet Fraud Site. 2 days later the following information appeared on my bank statement in reference to charges I agreed to pay 1st Credit:

Amount: $64.95

The toll free number for 1st credit was 1-866-505-2632. 1st credit made two previous attempts to contact with a pre-recorded message saying to call that number regarding my account.
