A little background on me. I have been a Notary Public for almost 20 years at the same location for 20 years. I offer Credit Card Payment to my customers as a convenience. I was contacted by 1st National Processing less then a year ago, as they knew my current Merchant Services fees increased  the  monthly fee by double. I do not do have great volume and expressed that to the salesmen, but they said that did not matter, and offered me a rate with no increases for the first year. I ask them if the procedure for paper processing charges in the field differed from my current merchant, they said no. About 2 months ago they increased their monthly fee from $7.00 to $9.00, and said they were going to assess a monthly $15.00 PCI fee. Because they wanted to insure I was PCI compliant. As the terminal provided by them, a Nurit 8000, was already  and PCI compliant,  I asked them if this fee was this required by MC or Visa, or law. After much evasion they said no. They apparently saw me as a poor customer and coercivly was going to get rid of me thru this forced insurance. When I told them I would not want the service if they assessed the new fees, they told me I would have to contact the sales rep. I did and finally received an email saying as soon as they receive the terminal they would close the account, and theie would no ETF or charges. I contacted customer service as I had priory mail confirmation and they said  30 days to close the account. I said I would not access any  more fees. We will see!

When I first began using their service, accepting manual transactions in the field I suffered several losses in customer charges because they required a whole bunch extra data to be collected, on manual charges, other then customer name, cc number, expiration date and zip code where they received their bill. Not true, they wanted the customers address and CRV on the back of card. I sucked it up.

The terminal they sent me was previously a wireless enabled, and had a battery that was almost dead, and I had to charge it up to get it to work on my desk. It was really clunky and I didn't dare take it into the field. As the battery was weak and the offline enabling keying was very complicated. I had a Tranz 380 for the better part of ten years that was recently programmed by my new merchant and found PCI compliant. It also was programmed for automatic batch. The Nurit 8000 had to be batched every night, and if each I didn't batch within 24 hours they charged me $1.00 penalty.   . No transactions have been completed for June on the old account and they have received the terminal. Yes, the $64.00 fee on 6-03-2010 and the $9.00 on 6-03-2010 assessed to my bank account, on gross sales 39.29, I will have to pay. But it makes my blood boil.

I am back on my Vodaphone Tranz 380, it works great, and I am having no problems with it at all.

These guys are bad news. They construct the contract to take advantage of the customer. They operate in bad faith. They do not keep their word. My word is my bond. Run do not walk form these guys. I do not wish to work with any service provider I have an Attorney review the contract. Life is too short.
