My friend and I went into the 24 hour fitness in Sugarhouse to sing up for memeberships together. We spoke with Anton, who was very unprofessional, did not tell me totals or dates of the charges. Anton told me to come into the gym the next day to put my credit card on file. The reason for coming in the next day was that it took a day for the system to register the account.
I came in the next day to do this. I spoke with another rep there whose name was Mason. He seemed new and didn't really look like he knew what he was doing. I gave him my card and told him my phone number to put the card on the account. He began typing and then said that the computer he was on wasn't working and switched. He began putting my credit card number and information into the computer. All of a sudden he said "Uh oh. This isn't your account." I was a little irritated, but I understand, I've been at new jobs and made mistakes too. [continued below]....
Well my membership fees were taken out of my bank account on Oct 25th, I had no idea what the totals were because Anton is a bad sales man. Then on Nov 6th, guess what happens? I'm charged ANOTHER $109. I immediately call and ask for Anton. He tells me the only way to avoid the charges is to cancel my card. I told him I would not do this, it was his mistake and he needed to fix it. I also let him know how ridiculous it was that he had reassured me there would not be a doulbe charge after I asked multiple times. I got off the phone with him and proceeded to call my bank to see if they could stop the charge. They informed me that all the needed was an authorization code from 24 hour fitness and the charge would be stopped. I called Anton back, told him this, gave him my bank's number, and told him to call me back when it was taken care of. Ten minutes later I got a call from my bank saying that Anton called and tried to cancel my credit card!!! Not only is that illegal its specifaclly what I had asked him not to do!! I told the banker do not under any circumstances cancel my card and that I would take of it. At this point my blood is boiling. Is Anton being lazy or does he not want his supervisors with the authorization code to know how badly he's messed up? I call Anton back and ask for the direct supervisor, Zack. I explained to him what had happened. He made no effort to apologize or even make me want to keep my membership. Zack then told me the only thing he could do is credit the ammount back to my card and that if it wasn't back on the card by Nov. 11th to call him. Well its now Nov. 12th the amount has not been credited, and I have literally $40 to my name. Thank you so much 24 hour fitness!!! Specifically Anton for not only not doing your job but lying and being lazy about it. Your awesome!!!!!
