After Being Released from jail on bail I needed a job that would allow me to work enough hours to establish a residence. After speaking to multiple associates at the four h center I was under the impression that their job would give me housing and food at the exchange of my 13 hours a day 6 days a week of work, (without overtime). But at recieving my first paycheck my funds were held until I singed a housing contract, I agreed to pay the amount from that day forth but they had already taken it from my pay for the preceding three weeks a sum of around 360 dollars. I had to borrow money from my grandmother (bless her soul) to get my car fixed and make the payment. The room I am staying in is under contract with another man Jim Courtney; who pays no rent in exchange for his work. I am asking why I have to pay for a room that is already paid for under separate means! I am also furious that before recieving my paycheck none of the personell in the office had mentioned to me that I would be required to pay rent. (an astonishing 120 dollars a week for a 20x30 room which I have to share) The room I stay in is infested with mold and carpenter ants and has a strtict set of rules I must abide by! Hardly the conditions of a rented room which would offer both privacy and allow me to act at my own discretion. Furthermore the renter comes into my room to turn off the air conditioning and any other electronics, simply to save himself money. Disregarding any right of mine to privacy and/or comfort, he also does this to female tenants an offense that may also be considered sexual harrasment and privacy invasion. I have no space in a dresser or closet to put my belongings and no place to wash my clothes, store my toletries or practice my music. His action have made me furious but as I have no other place to go I have to find some kind of backup plan to trudge on out of this mess. My biggest questoin is this, if your going to squeeze change out of someones hand would you not to it to someone who could spare it not some young man working to pay his bail and his grandmother?! I am working as hard as I can to put the pieces of my life together and I do not need anyone bending me over after I break my back for them. I expected more form a well known, well respected organization.
