411.ca 411 Refuses to cancel contract and then badgers for payment. Extortion by persistence Toronto Ontario

I originally agred verbally on a sales call for a free listing in 411.  After 6 months and persistent badgering by their call centre I agreed, again verbally, to a 3 month trial of the listing services.  After 3 months and NO RESPONSE to their advertising efforts I phoned and spoke to someone called Paul to cancel the service, again verbally.

The next month 411.ca charged my credit card again.  I phoned and complained, and was told by Kevin, that no record of the earlier call was made.  I said that it was for a 3 month trial and we were now in month 5 and this was confirmation I was cancelling.

The following month my credit card was again charged.

This time I phoned the bank first and cancelled all payments to 411.ca on the credit card.  I also phoned 411.ca and told them what I'd done, and that this must to them show that I have cancelled.  Again no record could be found of the previous 2 calls.

I have now been getting calls from their robocall centre at 1-866-411-4411 which persistently ask me to settle my account.  My account as far as I'm concerned is settled.

Their online services is even worse, and probably breaches a number of internet consumer and privacy laws.  Once you've created an account, their no way of delting it.

This service did not work for my business which is why I cancelled it.  They promise the moon and deliver marshmallow.  In my opinion they have no idea on how to sell any business except their own, and they use their apparent ineptitude and lack of customer facing administration tools to scam people out of money to line their own pockets.

STEER CLEAR!

I recommend anyone else in Ontario Canada that has issues with this company contact the Ministry of Consumer Services and lodge a complaint.
