There are multiple issues with the transaction that happened with 42Photo. Initially we placed an order on their website for a Canon camera and selected the accessories that were suggested. After placing the order, we received a call from 42Photo few days later saying that the Accessories are not correct and they have not shipped the products yet. The representative asked all unrelated questions and said he has correct/upgraded accessories which are about $690 more even though their website suggested that the initial accessories are correct. We wanted to see them before we decide, but 42Photo said they are not on their website. So we asked him to email the product information, but 42Photo rep said cannot email. As we did not feel comfortable by these words and wanted to cancel the order as the accessories may not be correct, 2Photo rep said if we cancel the order then we would have to pay 20% restocking fee even though they did not ship the products yet and this is unfair. ..... So we insisted to provide some information about the products before making a purchase. After then we never received an email about upgrading the accessories or new invoice, and they sent us the products and which seems to be low quality and incorrect/missing items.
The products that they sent were not what we ordered and the products received do not match the invoice they sent. Out of the 19 products/kits on the invoice, they were some missing items. They sent incorrect items. Some do not have the warranty information and seem to be used. The representative acknowledged that the products sent do not match the receipt but failed to process returns and did not provide RMA. Even though its their fault to send incorrect products and charge additional amount, they refused to provide RMA for returning the products and insisted we pay 20% restocking fee upfront first by sending them a money order. This is wrong and they are not listening and continuously arguing and hung up the calls multiple times. This is causing a delay to return the products and will cross the 10 day return policy. However, they want all discussions over the phone (So there is no proof) and not willing to resolve correctly and by email. We want to get the full refund for our products as they mistake is on their part and do not want to be responsible for any loss or delay since they sent incorrect products and etc. They initially said the order is thru their Online/Mail department and we need to talk to them to resolve this. We called the store and they refused to help us as the order was online. Later now they say that the order came thru store and we have to speak to the store.
The camera purchased was Canon EOS-7D with Canon 18 135mm IS Lens, but the product we received has a box name Canon EOS-7D with Canon 18 85 Lens, but inside the box it has 18-135 lens. The box seems to be damaged and there are missing packaging material inside and also missing the Warranty cards. This is no mistake, because Canon camera box is of one product and the products inside are different with missing parts. People say that these things seem to be purposefully done rather than a mistake.
There terms and conditions and return policy also seem to be unfair. People say that they are designed in a way that the consumers are mostly at loss. There are many complains in yelp.com and other places and it is a shame that this company is still finding loop holes to take advantage and chea* consumers in this great nation. I hope this gets resolved and you would save other brothers and sisters become a trap.
