I adopted a 9 week old puppy from 57 House All Breed Rescue on Saturday. With my puppy came an Official Interstate Health Certificate Of Dogs, Cats, and other Non-Livestock Species from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Regulatory Services-Animal Health. It was signed by Accreddited Veterinarian Jeremiah Wojnarowski. I also got a vaccination Record from 57 House All Breed Rescue stating my puppy was vaccinated for Parvo and all his other puppt shots and that he was de-wormed and is "Great" condition upn adoption.

Well, a day and a half later, my new puppy was lethargic. Had diahrea and vomitting. I rushed him to my vet and he was diagnosed with parvo, a fatal and highly contagious virus. My vet advised me that he would have been infected at least a week ago. Which means he was infected while still at 57 House Rescue. I immediately was in fear for my other dog (who was vaccinated, but still a possibility of infection) as well as my mother's dog. If I was notified by 57 House that the puppy wasn't Health Checked and up-to-date on shots, I would have never let him be in contact with my other dog and my mom's dog.

Then I got the call from my vet that he also has hookworms and roundworms. 57 House gave me a Vaccination Record saying he was given wormers. Now I have to explain to my 2 year old son why he can't touch his new puppy and why he can't go out into the back yard and front lawn to play which is most likely infected with parasites. My husband also is very upset that out perfect lawn has to be bleached where the dog relieves himself to kill the parasites and parvo because we can't let him go anywhere else because that would be putting the neighborhood's dogs at risk for contracting this deadly virus.

This week has been an absolute nightmare. Now let me get into the costs of this all. We just recently lost out German Shepherd to cancer. That cost us 5 grand. When we decided to adopt a puppy for our heartbroken son, we thought we were doing the right thing. I want to know why a $16 snap test to test for parvo isn't included in the $300 adoption fee I paid for this puppy. I also want to know why he was infested with worms and covered in fleas and ticks. I have adopted a rescue dog before and from my understanding, it is unheard of for a puppy to be placed in a home in this kind of condition. I never had this kind of horrible experience before. I spent well over 1 grand on this puppy for medication, vet visits, and special foods etc. etc. 57 House Rescue offered to give me my $300 adoption fee back....but I still haven't recevied it. He also advised me he was not doing to well with the funds and it would have to wait to take out of his personal account. Well guess what? If I had the funds, I would've spent it on a pure breed german shepherd from a reputable breeder. Now, I'm trying to make ends meet to save the sick puppy he gave me.

I took my vacation week this week to train our new puppy. Now I am spending it bleaching floors and destroying my backyard, syringe feeding my sick puppy, keeping him locked in a separate room while trying to explain to my 2 year old why he can't play with the puppy. Locking my other dog in his crate 24/7 to prevent exposure, and my two cats locked in the basement so they won't catch the worms. I also am worrying myself sick that my son could've becoe infected with the parasites and haven't slept in days.

I am beyond disbelief and can't believe this place would ever do something like this. 57 House All Breed Rescue really needs to re-consider being a rescue group or test these puppies before adotping them out. Please tell me what my $300 paid for? Also, they advised that all their puppies are brought to the local groomer before going to their new homes. Who is the local groomer? A 12 year old with a hose and dishwasher soap? Because my little puppy was infested with fleas and ticks.

On a lighter note, my little Nash (formerly Tanner) is now eating a little on his own and has stopped with the bloody diahrea and vommitting. I am praying he will pull through. As far as I am concerned....I am 57 HOUSE RESCUE (my house number ironically is also 57) and not this poor excuse of a rescue group, 57 House All Breed Rescue. My husband and I are nursing our puppy back to health and hoping for a full recovery.

Please don't adopt from 57 House All Breed Rescue.

Absolutely Stunned!!

AUTHOR: Judy from Long Island - ()

I was shocked to read of the complaints about 57 House Rescue.  In April, 2012, I adopted a purebred German Shepherd puppy from 57 House Rescue.  He was one of a litter turned in by his breeder/owner after a family emergency.  The puppy I adopted was the puppy I received, a sweet, fluffy baby who is now a handsome 80-pound boy. Other than probably being younger than the 9 weeks advertised, what I saw was what I got.  He had no significant problems, other than crying the entire way from New Jersey where I picked him up to his forever home on Long Island.

I will say that my e-mails of appreciation were never acknowledged, nor was an article on my experience published on Petfinders.com and cc'd to the rescue gtroup acknowleged.  (See Petfinders Happy stories/Jackson).  Perhaps I was just lucky, but so many people with bad experiences can't be wrong.  To the best of my knowledge 57 House Rescue has never again offered a purebred rescue, so this litter probably started out in life well and wasn't there long enough to become ill.

Am so sorry people did not have the same experience as I did.

57 House All Breed Rescue...wrong breeds

AUTHOR: melissa729 - ()

Dear Bryant,

I'm glad your puppy is doing better. Did they test for Parvo? My puppy also had a large tick on his ear. I also check their website at the new puppies, and they all look very similar. Like a mixed breed. I ordered a DNA test for my puppy to see what he really is. I have a strong feeling he is a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I've never heard of them before, but after much research....I think thats what he is. Which wouldn't be good....having such a high energy hunting dog in my area.

Jason told me my dog was definitely a German Shepherd/Lab mix. I am so curious to see if he has given other people the same story he gave me. He told me the mother was a pure breed German Shepherd that mated with the neighbor's Lab. Then the owener sold the puppies for $400. He said a young couple bought the puppy and their parent's wouln't let them keep it and it ended up in a high kill shelter. I think this story is made up.

I really wanted a shepherd/lab mix. I expressed to Jason that I just lost my Shepherd to cancer and that I really wanted a puppy with at least half shepherd in them. He assured me it was.

My dog has a single coat. There is no possible way he is a shepherd, a lab, or a shepherd lab mix because they have double coats. My vet thinks he is a black and tan coonhound mix....again a breed I do not want because I am not a hunting person. I was looking for more or a household pet/watch dog. I still think hes a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I will update when his results come in from the DNA test. However, even those aren't really too accurate.

What was your breed listed as?

PS: My dog is doing great. Whatever he is...hes intelligent and sweet and awesome. He already knows sit, down, off, give paw, and bark on command. He is excellent with my 2 year old son. They only issue I have with him is his mouthing/chewing on people's hands. I am very experienced in training dogs, and I just can't get him to stop. Tried every method possible. He is only about 15 weeks though, so hopefully it stops.

I also researched this "rescue" group before adopting my pup, and there is nothing out there about this place. Well now there is...!!!

DON'T ADOPT FROM 57 HOUSE ALL BREED RESCUE.

Similar Problems with My Puppy

AUTHOR: Bryant - ()

I adopted a puppy that was delivered on June 1st of this year. When we got her, she had a tick on her head, but luckily it was the only one. We set an appointment up at our vet so they could check her out and put her on file, but the first night we had this cute little puppy, she was sick and had diarrhea along with some vomitting. She wasn't dehydrated and still played, but something was obviously not right. When we took her to the vet, they checked her stool and gave her a deworming along with some antibiotics. We also had to put her on a bland diet and administer an antinauseau medication as well as medication for her constant diarrhea. The poor puppy had to be taken to the vet 4 times in a two week span because she wasn't doing well and had to be checked up on frequently. After spending hundreds on the visits and treatment, she was finally better.

After all of this, I started to get the feeling that this "rescue" wasn't what it claimed to be, but when I checked online, there weren't any negative reviews or complaints so I figured maybe it was just my puppy. After reading this as well as checking their puppies and seeing one that looks exactly like my dog, I'm led to believe that this isn't a legitimate rescue.

Moreover, the groomers, vet and his assistants, and other people in general couldn't believe my dog's "Breed." I had my doubts as well, and after seeing the puppies on the site again that look like my dog but  are labeled with a different breed mix,  I'm led to believe that they miscategorized my pup.

I'm scared that some more problems may appear in the future as a direct result of the carelessness of 57 House Rescue.

57 House All Breed Rescue PARVO PUPPIES

AUTHOR: melissa729 - ()

I'm so sorry about your puppy. I finally got my 300$ back from 57 House after opening a case with PayPal. And I completely agree with you that this place is a puppy mill. It was my understanding that puppy mills only sell pure breed dogs, but I guess I am wrong. Also, my puppy was listed as a german shepherd/lab mix. When I asked Jason (owner at 57 House), he told me that the mother was a pure breed German Shepherd who got pregnant with the neighbor's lab and they sold the puppies for 400$. One puppy was bought by young kids and they weren't allowed to keep it and ended up at a high kill shelter and then with him. I asked if he was sure it was a german shepherd mix (bc that is what I really wanted) and he said yes. Well, my puppy is a single-coated dog. There is no possible way he is a german shepherd a lab or a shepherd lab mix. He is either a coonhound or a catahoula, both are serious hunting dogs....and I am totally screwed now because I live in a residential area and I do not hunt. Neither does my husband and we are going to end up with a howling, unsatisfied dog. Not to mention it'll probably take off chasing things when off leash, which is exactly why I wanted a Shepherd or a Lab, because they won't do that.

This guy, Jason has no idea how serious parvo is. He probably started an epidemic here in the North East. When I called him up and told him how big a problem this was, he said he took all his dogs off the website and quarauntied them. BULL!!! They were off for a day. Back up the next day. There's no way he can know they are parvo free in a day. I know this because I got a lot of info from my vet, in fear for my mother's dog and my other dog. He said parvo won't even start shedding in there feces to test positive for like a week. And I highly doubt he tested each puppy anyway, because when my husband asked him why our puppy wasn't tested, he said it's 16$ for a test and that adds up when each pup is tested. Ok....so what's my 300$ adoption fee for?

If you don't mind me asking, when did you get your puppy? Was it with the June 15, 2013 batch? Jason told me he sold 10 puppies that day. I bet he didn't even contact those new owners to tell them.

57 House All Breed Rescue

AUTHOR: Chuck - ()

I had the same issue with 57 house.  My puppy came to me with parvo and never made it out of the hospital.  We had him for 3 days...  I spent over 1500 to try and save him and have nothing but a sad 3 year old to show for it.  I got my adoption fee back though.  I just checked their sight to see what they had for adoption and it's all puppy's.  Some of witch bear a striking resemblance to the one I had. What rescue has nothing but puppys? More than likely every one of them will end up with parvo.  I like to give people the beniffit of the doubt, but this is looking more and more like a puppy mill.  Even the description of all the puppy's are the exact same.  Hopefully that's a new bail of hay and not the Provo bail that all the pics are taken on.
