my son had his car repo'd it happens in this economy

brian the REPOMAN from the company AAA SOUTHERN REPO who has picked the vehicle up has decided to charge him 100 dollars "IN CASH" to get his own personal belongings back.

the car dealership (a unreputable place anyway- foreman motors inc) has told me, " foreman motors do not charge people. it is the AAA SOUTHERN REPO company that does that." this would be dante i spoke with here. real schmoozer.

i spoke to brian with AAA SOUTHERN REPO and he had informed me that my son does not get his own things himself. the REPOMAN brian said " i will bring it in a box. your son will give me the keys , his id, and 100 dollars IN CASH" .                   (what is he a bank robber?)                                                                                                        if my son had a 100 bucks he could put it towards the payment.

im sorry but am i the only one not getting this ???

do any of you know everything you have in your vehicle?

would you trust this person with your personal belongings and important paperwork that you may have in your car? (my son has to pay for that as well by the way.) supposedly online it says they are supposed to make inventory of everything in it. oh im sure.

i agree my son should lose the car if he cant pay for it but i do not believe he should lose his rights and have some person going thru his belongings and then selling them back to him for 100 bucks. or for 1 dollar. they are his things. he already bought them. my son owes for the car. his things are not part of the car. the car was taken this morning and we called right away. AAA SOUTHERN REPO '  s Brian has said that we have to wait until tomorrow. wonder why??

AAA SOUTHERN REPO is exactly like those businesses in the hurricanes that jack up their prices on everyone.

he told me that he can charge that 100 dollars under chapter 493 under the florida state statutes. have you looked that up? i did and it gave me a bunch of really great reasons on why he is able to lose his license. nothing about why he can charge anything. guess his "fake me out" backfired.

i called the palm bay police dept i was informed by them that "since the economy some of these guys will do this charging and it is just not right."

unfortunately for brian at  AAA SOUTHERN REPO i have nothing better to do but spread the words about them.

i understand channel 9 news is doing repo stories right now. hmmmmmm......

AUTHOR: William - (United States of America)

My Name is William **** I have the same situation they wanna charge me to get my plate and personnel items from the vehicle, which by law is still registered to me but they want $150.00.. not $100.00 I guess they can choose what to charge and I dont think it is legal. I will team with you and maybe come up with an idea to bring all of them to justice. I'm going to call channel 9 news and see where i get there. also going to complain to Angies list, my congressman, our governor, and anyone else i can think of to get justice and my things,

If your son Has any thing worth money i really dont think it will be there.. thats why they give you a box of your things and after you pay them there money.. they say oh well wasnt there when we got the car... there crooks especially that Danny fat head. you know him the muscle guy with air there instead of Brains, to much Steroids i guess. or drugs. anyway my number is (((redacted))) call me and lets pull together with others. Why Are You Dealing With This Brian In The First Place??

I checked Chapter 493 and it definitely does cover the matter of personal belongings in the car...belongings which are not part of the loan security agreement.  It also details the steps of inventorying these items, adivising the debtor of their location and it covers the rendering of a fee to the debtor for the time and costs of the inventory, record keeping and securement of those items.  Its not just a matter of grabbing a big box and piling the items in it and calling the debtor saying, "Come and get it."

But lets go back...way back and explore another aspect of this.  Why are you dealing with this Brian in the first place?  There are much bigger problems here than a measly $100!  When your son decided to get this car and you found out it was to be financed, what exactly did you say to him?

Did you tell him he's signing a contract which legally binds him to making each and every payment on time, everytime?

Did you tell him those payments are due without regard to whether or not he's sick, has a job, gets fired, goes on unemployment...in short there is NO EXCUSE for not making the payments unless he's dead?

Did you tell him if he doesn't make the payments, the lender can and will repo the car?

Did you tell him a repo is a very serious matter which will stick with him for a long, long time and has very serious affect on his credit, the cost of insurance, getting a job, getting a promotion?

Did you tell him its not just a matter of making the payment but also living up to your word and integrity?

Did you tell him if he loses his job, the very next day he needs to get on a payroll doing anything because he has financial responsibilitites to live up to?

Did you tell him he may need to get a second job or a part time job to make ends meet because he took on a very serious responsibility?

Or, did you revert to your very first line blaming the economy?  Exactly, the economy isn't perfect but there are ways to make money to meet your responsibilities.  Its a matter of getting money coming in be it washing dishes, working at McDonalds, cleaning septic tanks...whatever.  You do what you need to do to MEET YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES rather than blaming the economy.  And don't tell me there are no jobs.

You don't need to deal with Brian.  He may be a nice guy, but your son brought this on himself by not being resourceful enough to get a job...ANY JOB...to meet his OBLIGATIONS.

Yep...he'll pay for this...for a long, long time.  And he could have avoided this just as surely!

do you work for free? i dont! (from Bryan repoman)

AUTHOR: repoman bryan - (United States of America)

do you go to work for free? i did not think so. well, i dont either. it cost money and time to inventory, box and store your property for you. thats right, for you. per state law we have to do this. we can not take your car back to the dealer and leave your stuff in it. we must store and protect your items for you. your welcome! again, the world does not stop and bend over backwards for you or anyone. i guess we should all just start working for free. i wonder how anyones bills will get paid. and by the way, if the police did make those comments, ask them if they work for free. better yet, ask them why they are questioning the FL state statutes that are put into place by our government. the same government that hired them and writes their paycheck. i will tell you what, the next time you get repoed, if you dont want to pay the inventory and storage fees, just let me know. i need some yard work done, perhaps we can barter. i dont work for free and im sure you dont either.
