Years back we left a van for transmission work. After (supposedly) pulling the transmission we were told it would be $875 to fix it or $125 for diagnostics. Aamco kept the van ON THE RACK and IN THE GARAGE overnight. (I would imagine by now these costs have tripled!)

When my husband returned the next day, paid for the service and left, he got no more than a mile away when he realized ALL his hunting gear and equipment was missing. He turned around and went back to Aamco. We should have called the police but were assured insurance would take care of it. Upon submitting an itemized list to Aamco, they laughed in our faces.

We tried to file in small claims but could never get the names of the responsible parties. I tracked the tax records and took names from there but, still, the owners could not be located and served. I later spoke with a local doctor's wife that had a bad experience with the SAME Aamco. Her brother was an attorney and even he ran into the same problems in trying to take legal action. There were no records available from which papers could be served.

It's been many years but it's remained a sore spot for me and I'm happy I found this site where I could FINALLY VENT. Maybe better folks are in place now.....maybe not. (by the way.......after going through all of this and the expense, the transmission was the same as when it was first taken in; making noises and slipping)
