First  of all, I would like to warn everyone "DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE, NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE"!     We were having transmission problems on our 2008 Acadia and we had it towed here. We were told it was free towing and 695.00 to diagnose the problem. After 2 weeks, the manager Joe Johnson quoted us $4500.00! He told us we could pay over 6 months, we could take out a loan or he would keep our car and when we payed him off we could have it back, he was desperate in keeping our car there. We were not going to take his word that it needed an entire new trans and GMC offered to help out with some of the cost.  After telling Joe the manager we didnt want to have the work done their and would pay him the fees he quoted us, he became rude and started us on a long path of holding our car hostage and jerking us around. Which made no sense becuz we were going to pay him the money for looking at our car, which he said we had to pay CASH to get our car back and no where on the paperwork did it say cash only! As I spoke with Joe, I let him know to communicate with me from now on instead of my husband becuz of his work schedule and he said ok. But that was not the case...I believe becuz I was a women, he felt as though he didnt need to contact me and continued to call my husband and I told him again to please only contact me! So after he knew we wanted to take our car somewhere else he kept hasseling us that it didn't make sense to pay him the $800 and go somewhere else to have the work done...he kept trying over and over again to convince us to keep our car their and it got to the point of being ridiculous AND it did make sense because the dealer ended up only charging us $1400.00! So we asked to have our car back the next week and he rudely told me they were busy and it would be a few weeks before we could have our car towed to the dealer and at this point he already had our car for 3 weeks.

I called him the following week to see if it was ready and he made up an excuse that he was waiting to talk to my husband about something and left him a message which was a lie! My husband never received a message or call...and I had already told him to contact me about the car! So now week 4 passed (AND WE STILL DIDNT HAVE OUR CAR BACK)and I decided to go to the shop to see what was going on and of course it wasn't ready and I happened to notice the logo on my car grille was broken! My husband asked him about it and Joe said he couldn't say it was their fault, but he would knock $57.00 off the bill for it.  ANOTHER week passed and I called him again about getting our car back because at this point he was HOLDING IT HOSTAGE! He told us this time that the transmission was put back together but needed a certain mechanic to put it back in the car and that the mechanic was on vacation.

So here we are a family of 5 and both my husband and I work and he still has one of our two cars after 5 weeks!  So yet again the week passed and at this point I was ready to call the police and find out what my options were becuz he refused to complete our car in a sensible time so we could have it towed to the dealer. After more than 5 weeks my husband called (becuz at this point I couldn't handle the stress of not having our car and listening to this guy lie and treat us like our everyday lives and jobs were not important enough that we had to do without our car for this long....and he didnt care becuz he was in no hurry to let us have our car back! So the excure this time that Joe the manager said was his computer system was down and it wouldn't be ready for a few more days.  FINALLY after almost 6 weeks he called and it was ready and I wasn't going to show up with cash like he originally said and brought my debitcard, which he accepted. But of course it wasn't over! The dealer called me and let me know AAMCO didnt return our engine shield with the car and we are still waiting to hear back from JOE,to give it back!!!!!!

Joe the Manager at AAMCO worked very hard to make me a satisfied customer.  After contacting me and hearing about the problems I had, he went above and beyond to try and make things right.  He kept in contact with me the entire time we were handling the problem and made sure I was happy by the end!

AAMCO Worked HARD to make things right!

POSTED: Tuesday, September 17, 2013

AAMCO Libertyville's Manager Joe Johnson worked very hard to make things right with us after reviewing my report.  He took care of getting us our heat shield back and paid for the cost to put it on.  My experience this time around was just the opposite as the first time.  He consistently followed up with me and went out of his way to make things right and take care of us!
