Overheating Manual Transmission?
AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, September 20, 2010
They probably put the wrong grease in it (Yes I know it's really Oil) some manual trannys use ATF (Automatic Trans Fluid) and some use 85/90Weight oil, Jumping out of first gear is a damaged synchronizer, that sometimes means all three parts have to be replaced Low gear, (the Gear itself) Synchronizer sleeve and Bronze "Synchronizer".
It looks to me like they have no idea how to fix a manual, I know from experience they don't know anything about diagnosing troubles, just Overhaul, Overhaul, Overhaul, and if it doesn't shift right Overhaul again.
I once worked for a Mr Transmission, I quit after ONE day because I knew how to fix what was wrong, and they only wanted to sell Overhauls, my experience and dealership training was not what they wanted. They were looking for a laborer that would follow a chart, smarts not neeed or wanted.
Needless to say, I'm somewhat disgusted with trans shops
I've been to Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, and Toyota factory schools, these Trans shop guys simply follow a dis-assembly chart, and don't have any idea what is needed to REPAIR anything.
I'm sorry you EVER went there, Chalk it up as an expensive lesson and buy that Competition transmission.
Starter not even starting is either a "Clutch switch" Mis-adjusted, or a bad Starter itself, Grinding is possibly a tooth ground off the flywheel, but that's rare.
Manual trans ring gears on the flywheel are easily replaced, getting TO it is a bitch.
Hope this helps, it's a bitch to be screwed by incompetence and incompetents.
