My name is Karen. I came into your store in Michigan. The store is located on 10 mile and Southfield Rd., and purchase (June 1, 2006) an air conditioner and a very unique fan. After setting up both items in my home it was discover, I had some funky wiring in my home, which cause fuse to be blown while running all three items. I was able to get both air conditioner running but had no use for the fan. Now I'm coming to why I find I had to write this complaint.

This morning at 10:00AM this morning, I phone the Southfield store asked to speak with the manager of the store (Tom), explain the above saturation, I also mention because these items where purchase with a gift card (house warming gift) from walmart but the cash could be use anywhere for purchases.

I no longer have that gift card because once purchasing the items from your store there was no longer any funds available on that card, I didn't see a reason to keep the card. All of this was explained to your manager. The manager response's was as long as the item was in selling condition, nothing that appeared to be wrong, I would be able to get my money back. Before hanging I have learned through experiences to get a name of a person to see when arriving to the store and that's what I asked Tom.

When I arrive to the store, Tom was no where to be found, my understanding he was working on Trucks. So I was asked to see another manager who knew nothing about our conversation and refuse to honor what I was tolded by Tom. Now at this moment, I'm angry, my son is angry because we both know what Tom told us at home. Our traveling to the Southfield store is no hop and a skip. Gas prices are high enough.

After asking Tom to honor what we had agreed to on the phone, he refused, said he never had that conversation with me, my son and I both told him he was lying to us and that we would not have made this trip. Because we told him he was lying, he instructed his employees do nothing to satisfy this customer. Explain to Tom that I would be following up with a complaint.

On June 1, 2006 with that $250 gift card, $235 dollars was spent in your store, I only ask to be refunded a $30 dollar fan that I no longer could use in my home.

I had to file a complaint with their district offices, once that complaint was received, I was phone by ABC's district manager and within a couple of hours I returned to the store and received a full cash refund.

Our receipt clearly states our 10 day return policy...

I am an employee at ABC Warehouse and though I cannot vouch for your conversation with Tom on our receipt it clearly states: "Claims and Returned goods must be accompanied by this bill within 10 days!" So if you tried to return your fan without the receipt or past 10 days of the original purchase date then your return would have been denied. Also I was a little confused as you stated you had a gift-card from Walmart. Furthermore if you tried to return your fan without its original packaging, or did not disassemble the fan so it was in its original state then it would fail to qualify as "selling condition." I am sorry for your problem, but you can't expect us to allow you to return merchandise indefinitely.
