June 2012:

I was contacted by ACS (Advance Cash Services) about paying off a loan that was in default or going to court/jail. I did not remember taking out this loan, but did not want to go to jail & was being harassed by the company. After a few email back & forth that were not helpful or polite, I made payment arrangements & paid it in FULL. I was emailed a RECEIPT of payment.

August 2012:

I was contacted AGAIN by ACS about paying off a loan in default I had taken out from the same company (Advance Cash Services) with a DIFFERENT account number. I contacted them back. They said I had already paid it & the email was sent to me due to a "technical error".

September 2013:

I am again being contacted via email from ACS about a loan (of the same amount ad the first two emails) with a different account number. I sent them EVERY email communication that I have had with them, & I am awaiting a response. I'm not giving them another dime! & Now I am questioning whether I should have ever paid them to start with!

Here's a Possible Helpline

I just received the same thing via e-mail. I am going to be contacting the Texas Attorney General in Austin for help on this matter. That would be my suggestion to you as well.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You have been SCAMMED!

AUTHOR: Amazed - ()

There is NO loan. They get your information and tell you that there was a loan. They just scammed you out of whatever money you just sent them.

You DO NOT go to jail for not paying a loan. There is no "debtors prison."

If it were a real loan, you would be given notification to appear in cour,t as the person would have to take you to civil court and try to get back their money. NO ONE GOES TO JAIL FOR NOT PAYING A LOAN!

This is a HUGE common scam. They obtain your personal information, call you, threaten you with jail if you don't pay. How MUCH did you SEND them?

You won't see your money again. They will continue to harrass you for more money. Change your phone number and your email.

You have just been scammed. You owed NO money.
