I contracted with ADR in early 2010 and
at the time I thought the installation went well.  I was saving money on my bill. In fact I was
up  $.67. Later on DWP would not grant me the permit because ADR placed
the meter in the backyard when they knew I had dogs, which was against DWP
regulations. The solar was then disconnected and ADR never alerted me. When I
got the bill it was about $260, basically what it was before the installation .
I then called ADR solar and they refunded the bill.  Eventually  DWP
issued the permit .  I was told by ADR  I was all set and there would
be no further problems. However the bills remained at the high cost, which I
continued to pay. I have called ADR every time I had a bill, over this whole
year, and they have responded by telling me everything is working correctly. In
addition to these lies they have blamed me for the poor sunlight condition
saying I need to cut down trees in backyard which hide the morning sun. This is
news to me since the trees were in existence since the installation.
Additionally we live on the west side of a large hill which is what actually
blocks the morning sun. They continue to show  up in my backyard without
knocking at the front door first and completely invading our privacy. I
reviewed all my bills and have realized NO DIFFERENCE OR NO COST SAVINGS. I
believe this is due to the fact it was never reconnected properly after the DWP
pulled the permit. They act as though they are making attempts to fix all
the problems , but they continue to create obstructions to fixing the problems.

interested in the quick sale .

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Anyone Considering Solar

AUTHOR: cj - (United States of America)

I currently work for a solar company and have experience in solar systems that are purchased or leased.  I just want to mention to anyone who is considering installing solar to do your homework.

The complaint here is common among all solar companies - although it is usually not the fault of the solar company but of the original utility company.  There is often a wait of anywhere from three to even nine months for the utility company to "switch" your service to your solar system (or turn it on).  Some solar companies believe they have the best connections to the utility companies so they get your system "on" faster, but it is still a crap shoot.  While most consumers/customers leave it to the solar company to take care of this, I think it is in the consumer's best interest to stay on the utility company to make the switch.  They will make you jump through hoops, lie to you about how it's done or whatever they can do to delay the process.  They will always blame it on the solar company, but think about it; the solar company is responsible for installing panels - only the utility company has control of turning it on.  I don't know if this is intentional or ignorance on the part of the employees.  Whatever reason, the old saying stays true that "the squeaky wheel gets the oil."

We all need to stay on the utility companies to do their job and to do it in a timely manner.  Until they can give better explanations of why it takes so long, they need to be held responsible.  They are giving all solar a bad reputation when, in fact, solar saves you money.  I live in an area where we cannot get it because it is just not offered (the utility company will not work with it).  My friend, however, just bought solar panels and while she paid $8k down, her bill is no more than $37/month and will only get lower until she is at $0.  It took eight months to get the panels turned on, but now that it is on it will only get better/cheaper.  Other customers I have worked with (and stay in touch with) are extremely happy with their service whether they bought or leased the panels.

Solar does lower the electric bill and you save money, and most companies are legitimate.  Just watch out for very new or unheard of companies to ensure the company you use has some solidity.  The ROI (Return on Investment) obviously varies according to where you live, your panels, roof, etc., but often is much more than people imagine (like 300% and more).  If you are considering it, find a solar calculator online; often those will provide an estimated ROI as well as other important info you should consider.

AUTHOR: Alexstuart - (United States of America)

I have been trying to get this complaint removed off of this site, they refuse to remove it.
I rushed to quickly to wage this complaint, I didn't give ADR a chance to fix this first.
ADR more then took care of me, I am more then happy now.
I wish they would remove this, but for some reason they won't.
ADR is a good company.
