*Consumer Comment: protect your home is not adt
No matter what city or town you live in, if you do a Google search for a security system, a burglar alarm or a home protection alarm dealer, you will get at least a dozen website listings for this "Protect Your Home" scammer. This company does web marketing and telemarketing under many false aliases, false addresses, false phone numbers, false internet listings and false promises. They try to say they are ADT and have been in business for 130 years and have 5 monitoring stations and can give you a free security system and every other irreputable, malicious and unethical sales tactic known in the free world. They pressure you to have your credit card ready and/or to set an appointment their rep (usually some installer that may or may not be licensed, bonded or insured) and try to make you believe that you are purchasing an ADT security system when, in fact, you are not. They will try to sign you up on a long-term (often 2-year) monitoring contract without explaining the provisions and get you to prepay some "activation fee) and then send some guy to install a wireless GE "SIMON" system (or other cheap security system) all the while telling you that they are your "local" company, but they can never seem to provide a local contact name, address or phone number.
If you ever talk to these scam artists, get their name and number and report them to your local police department or sheriff's department alarm unit. Almost everything they are doing is either questionable under state licensing laws or outright illegal. ADT supports their behavior by purchasing these monitoring contracts and pretending that they have no affiliation with this type of soliciting and scam merchandising. Don't believe a word of it. ADT is in bed from head to toe with "Protect Your Home" and their various state installer crews (often named "Defender Security") and condones this illicit and aggressive sales behavior to try to capture security markets from honest, licensed, local security alarm dealers. If ever a company needed to be forced out of business in the US, it's Protect Your Home. The give a bad name to home security, to the entire alarm industry and make many homeowners dread the thought of having to purchase a security system because they may have to deal with such low-life scam artists like ADT Protect Your Home.
