My wife and I had just purchased a home that had an ADT system already installed. I wanted to upgrade and had filled out a request online for more information. I received a call from an ADT representative and they set up an appointment for me after I told them I wanted someone to install ADT Pulse so I could do home automation as well.

The installer came out and was awesome, but he told me that he couldn't install all of the Pulse products I wanted but that I could add them on in the future. In total i spent over $1400 dollars having the system upgraded. About a month later decided I wanted to utilize the full functionality of the Pulse system and asked ADT if I could add some additional items / functions so that I could start using home automation, they told me I couldn't because I went through an authorized dealer and that I didn't really have a true pulse system.

I explained to them that i was sold a pulse system, I have an ADT pulse account, and I just want to know what I need to do to add new functionality. They told me that while I did have a pulse system it wasn't really a pulse system that could do all the things I was told and lead to believe it could do. I asked what I needed to do to get the addtinal functionality and they said I needed to upgrade my newly upgraded system for an additional $250.

I was flabbergasted. I had just dropped a decent chunk of chang thinking I was getting the state of the art pulse system I saw online and on tv, but instead I was mislead and lied to in order to get a sale. When I asked about their 6 month satisfaction guarantee the customer service folks said it didn't apply and that they would not honor it Because ADT was not responsible for its dealers / representatives.

at this point I am beyond frustrated and can't believe that a company that pitches itself as the most experienced and trusted home security company would treat a new customer the way it has. I'm ready to cancel my service, swallow my losses and use a different company to monitor and apparently upgrade my less than a month old system.

ADT is a ripoff, they are dishonest, misleading, and will not stand behind their guarnatee or try to help a very disatisfied customer.
