Never Never Will I buy from Advance Auto Parts.

I purchase and alternator from Advance Auto Parts with life time warranty 3 1/2 years ago. Alternator has gone bad so it was taken out and i have taken to Advance Auto Parts ware it was purchase from Store 04920. They said it did not come from there store. It had only one label on it the reman bar code. This was my third Alternator from this store! Now it does not show in there data base system for there data base only goes back 2 years. How I know this for I been shopping in the store for 5 years and I ask the parts man when was the first time I shop there he said 2/26/08.. I said what! I been coming here for more then 5 years and my phone has not change for more then 8 years! WHAT A SCAM!!! How can you offer life time warranty if you Data Base only goes back 2 years?!!!

Responsibility

As a consumer you are responsible to prove that you bought the alternator from Advance Auto Parts.  They are in no way responsible to maintain records of your proof of purchase for you.  They try to maintain some proof of purchase in a computer database but ultimately it is alternator,  prove where you bought it from.  Try taking a TV back to Walmart without proof of purchase...they will do nothing for you.  I am sorry that you failed to be responsible for maintaining records.

sorry about your luck

I'll start off by saying I worked for Advance, not this store.  Three things to note about your "scam".

The first is always file the receipt in the house for the car.  I put them in a plastic bag with a label.  It is not our responsibility to keep your information.

The second is that technically you have no warranty.  Ask for a copy of the warranty information.  We will warranty a lifetime item once then the second is warranted for 90 days.  It is a little misguided and most stores do not abide by it but it is there in writing.

The last part is all of our lifetime alternators after 2004-2005 say Remy, Worldwide, or Palladium.  So judging by the picture and the date you said you bought it, that one is our one year alternator.

Sorry about your luck and have a nice day!
