When I went to the dealer, the price marked on the window sticker had $3000 added as extra profit. The salesman explained that this dealer wanted to make a lot of money and marked up most models. There was also $895 added for the finance department. This charge is for supposed things the car had done to it, generally called mop and glop: They washed it and sprayed 50 cents wotrh of Scotch guard on the seats. The salesman said they did not really do this.
A few weeks ago the management of this dealership was arrested and everyone was escorted, handcuffed, to jail. They were replaced by even more crooked people.
I did check: the dealer north of us was selling the car for $11995 with rebates, including mop and glop.
