When I finally got an answer the woman sounded professional but I asked general questions it was obvious that she didn't expect them. I asked to speak with a manager. She put me on hold. I was then routed back and forth to diff people. I told them I lived in NY. They all asked for my name and telephone #. I would not give a real name and didn't give a number.
They specifically said that they are Assurant-a real renters ins co. I asked for their BBB #. They didnt know. When I was connected to the final girl I spoke to I demanded to speak to a manager. She put me on hold and came back. I asked if she was the manager and she said no. She kept trying to ask me my name and the state I lived. I gave it to her. She kept talking to me when I asked her over and over who they worked with besides Geico. She said local condos. She kept askng me if my mom was married, if it could be someone else on her policy. I kept reiterrating that she didn't have a policy so why would it be someone on a non-existent account.
Finally, the question I had prayed for-"Well we can call the biller if you give your credit card #". I flew off the handle...let me tell you that this company has websites, people that seem really in a call center. Donotbelieve! They are trying to impersonate AIG, Assurant and drop Geico's name. This is NOT any of thos companies.
The state listed was Florida but I think they also have a server in NY. Another BBB co has the same name and a phone # that doesn't work.

The next time you attempt to call someone's intelligence into question, you may want to prove that you have reading skills first.
Nice bait in the title. LOL.
I can tell that you're deeply concerned so I will let you know that the bank took care of this yesterday. It wasn't the money that I was concerned with. It was the future b.s. my mom may have to go thru due to a policy that doesn't exist. It was debited once, it can be debited again. I was trying to help her. Grow up.

WOW a new contender for second place

You admit to calling them and complaining but would not give them any information to track back the transaction.
Thats just plain dumb, did you expect them to just reverse every direct bill in the last month?
Yes a mistake was made but you made it worse.
By the way, if you insist on not giving the insurance company any info, have your credit card company or bank do a fraud charge back.
#3 Consumer Suggestion
They are a real company

If they took money out of your mother's account, and she does not have a policy with them, I'm guessing someone keyed in the wrong account # when setting up an auto draft for another insured.
I work in the life insurance industry and I have seen this mistake happen before.
If you can't fix the problem with the insurance carrier, file a dispute with the bank. They will help you resolve the issue.
