I have had my American Express Platinum Business card since 2005, along with an American Express Business (Green) for a completely different corporation since 2005. Without any notice, American Express sent me an email stating they were closing my accounts. I was shocked!!! I called American Express to find out what the situation was. After being transferred several times, I spoke with a representative who informed me that my cards were being closed because I had 8 inquiries this month! I had not applied for any credit, so my fear was that my identity was stolen. I asked what bureau(s) the information came from. I was informed that it was from Experian. I immediately created an account with Experian and paid fees to run report with credit score. The report showed NO inquiries in the last 30 days!!!! I called AMEX back armed with my credit report. The next representative I spoke with then proceeded to tell me that my accounts were not closed due to excessive inquires but because my credit score dropped to 686. I explained that my current score with the credit report I had in hand showed a 726 and the lower score was likely due to an error that appeared the previous month but had been removed. I was told that I needed to fax the credit report I had to the credit dispute department in order to see about reinstating my cards. They needed a copy of the report I had, even though they would need to run my credit on their end. I was fine with that and faxed 36 pages to 1-623-707-4168. I was told then follow-up by calling 1-800-842-5303. Each time I would call I was told to call back the next day. I just receive a letter in the mail that my account cannot be reconsidered for reinstatement!!!! I called the phone#. I was told that i needed to pay a $20 fee to reinstate. I was then asked a series of identifying questions. Once completed, i was then transferred to someone else. I was told that i had to reapply but that all of my credit history and reward points would be transferred. I reapplied and was denied!!! I contacted membership rewards about my 48,828 points and was told since my account was closed, I could not use them. However, I could write to: Membership Rewards Corresp. Unit, AMEX Membership Rewards, PO BOX 297813, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33329-7813 and explain my situation and provide them with how I would like to use my rewards points. They will make determination! I am so upset! I have never been denied for credt, had a card cancelled, I pay all my bills, never bk, shortsale, foreclosure, etc. I will NEVER use AMEX again!!! I am so outraged by this!

Although AMEX closed my account for NO reason (credit score over 726, no payments past due, etc.), I did find out that I could write and use the unused Membership Rewards Points that I had (approx. 50,000). Here is where you can write to request your AMEX Membership Rewards Points:
