I purchased a one-year membership to reunion.com the end of Nov 2008 to help me find distant cousins for my family tree research, and a week or two later, I had a $19.95 charge to my check card referencing AP9*Shopping Essential. When I called my bank, they said they saw something referencing Reunion.com and that the $19.95 was set-up as a recurring monthly charge to my check card. So I called Shopping Essential from my cell phone while I was on my land-line home phone with my bank and after using the correct phone number (as well as visa check card number) that reunion.com sold to them, I was able to have my 'membership' automatically cancelled and I rec'd a refund from them within a week as well as a temporary credit from my bank that same night. Shopping Essential said that I selected/checked a box or something during the online purchase that allowed reunion.com to enroll me in this membership, but there was no such window or selection box. I even have various emails to the company telling them that they are a fraud & they would be reported...and now I see that using this www.ripoffreport.com website to report them (which I found trying to find a company from a shipment address on my employer's UPS account) that 41 other people have also reported on this company as well, but I don't know if these other complainants realize (I haven't read the other complaints) that the charge may have originated from reunion.com selling their info. I'm still debating whether or not to keep my membership with reunion.com.
