The company also works to monitor their sales and customer support calls to see how they can be improved. They use these calls as examples for employees in training. Currently, Vivint is working to make changes to their contracts to make things easier for their customers as they have found that many of their complaints stem from feeling misled or customers paid fees they did not feel they authorized.

As reported to the Utah BBB: I am married but husband recently arrested and in county jail awaiting trial. I have been without his income for several months. I work in an office for $10.50 per hour. I have a 15 year old daughter in High School and am 6 months pregnant. My employer offers no maternity leave so my limited income will totally cease when I have the baby. My husband's parents helping financially but that is straining their resources as they are retired and on fixed incomes.

I am requesting to cancel the 5 year contract without prejudice and allow me return all equipment. I will gladly pay shipping costs. The Sales Rep. explained no equipment or install cost, just monthly fee. I explained I could not really afford a $45.00 per month monitoring fee but eventually succumbed to very high pressure and deceptive sales tactics. A verbal commitment by Sales Rep. that I would have 30 days to cancel.

Purchase and Service Agreement contract bottom portion was folded under so that the 3-day Notice of Cancellation portion was not visible. By the time I had time to read the contract in detail the 3-day cancellation period had expired. It is financially impossible for me to continue with the monthly payments.

A prior telephone request to APX Alarm Customer Service to cancel and return equipment was denied. Only options were to pay off the $2429.46 or find someone to buy the contract. A second request on 1/809 to APX Customer Service "Stephanie" reconfirmed APX's refusal of any type of compromise.

Caveat emptor. Granted, I should have read the lengthy contract in detail before signing; however, the sales tactics used were pushy, deceptive, unethical and appear to not only be condoned by the company, but probably encouraged and is part of sales training.

Attempts to find a local APX Alarm office in the Denver Metro area resulted in none listed. Per APX Alarm Customer Service everything is done through "corporate".

Just because the contract was folder over - does not absolve you from YOUR responsibilty to READ the CONTRACT before signing.
