AT&T U-verse Don't Waste Your Money! Awful Service for Internet
AT&T advertises U-verse Internet service through your existing phone line. It took four service men and finally a supervisor to come out and notice that the switch was not clicked in the correct direction to allow internet at the main phone panel. Then after every windy day or rainy day, the service would constantly go in and out. Service guy after service guy would come out, do nothing but run a line test, and say it's working now. If the service rep was really "top-notch," he would blame it on my inside wiring.
It used to be free for a service call -- Ah, not so anymore (people must be bailing left snd right due to their crappy service)! Now one has to pay $99 plus tax each time. So another rainy, windy day - another service call. This time the guy walks in my front door, NEVER looks at the outside line, tells me all new inside wiring must be done because I have "old" wiring. I told him no thanks, the problem is outside. He then goes back and charges me for having fixed my inside wiring.
So now I must take my valuable time to call AT&T to get my money back. Of course, they apologize and offer to send someone else out at no charge to fix the problem free of charge - inside or outside - at no cost to me! I think, "Yes! Finally CUSTOMER service."
Next, 2nd guy calls to let me know he will charge me if he comes out - the $99 fee plus any repairs. I tell him not to bother. AT&T calls back and tells me to disregard what the repairman states, they will credit all charges. They ask if they can send someone else. So I think, why not!
Next guy comes out while it is rainy and windy. He tells me that according to the last guy's report, the problem is inside. I told him the last guy did nothing, charged me, and never checked the outside line! I very nicely request him to make his own diagnosis since wind and rain do not affect my inside wiring. Low and behold he finds a break in the outside line -- BUT he isn't equipped to fix that and must send out another guy.
Finally! I can relax as it gets fixed. BUT no, the bill comes. They charge me a late fee because they didn't take off the services the first guy fraudulently charged. AND they've added inside wire protection services to my bill costing me an additional $10 per month.
When I call to complain, I discovet that AT&T's idea of fixing my inside wiring was to charge me for it for 5 months at $10 a month And send me a $25 gift card at the end of 5 months. Wonderful! Why should I pay $25 for inside wire protection when there is no problem with my inside wiring? Oh, says the lady, you're getting that for free because we're sending you a $25 gift card.
So besides not knowing how to fix their lines, they hire customer service reps who have no math skills.
DO NOT get their service. Internet ot TV! You will have nothing but trouble. Icing on the cake? I get on line and open a chat to cancel my service. The person typing says he will be happy to do that for me. Only to tell me I will need to call tomorrow because he cannot help me via a chat. Then he asks if there is anything else he can assist me with? My response, "there is ALWAYS just ONE more thing the CUSTOMER has to do with AT&T. I should not have been surprised to have reaffirmed the fact that there is no such thing as Service from AT&T."
I should have heeded my Daddy's words when he went to work for AT&T fifty years ago and finally had to quit after one week. He said, "They do nothing - Get to work at 8 and load the truck. Do one service call. Take break. Maybe a 2nd call if the first one was short. Go back to the station and unload the truck. Eat lunch. Re-load the truck, break, another call - maybe, back to unload the truck and go home. That'd drive me crazy!" I see little to nothing has changed over the years. They continue to drive people crazy!
