Below are two examples of our experiences and a helpful hint to customers: From my husband's FREQUENT calls, he learned that the lowest level customer service agent is authorized to adjust bills for up to $250 dollars. Complaints over that amount are routed to a supervisor.
Remember that your calls are supposed to be recorded in notes. Refer to those notes when you call a second, third, fourth time. Just because somebody says xyz is fixed, check your bill for the next few months to make sure and keep notes from the prior call.
Example 1: My husband called to change MY personal account butATT changed BOTH accounts (his business account) which not only caused disruption in his business service, but they also charged us for the change we did not authorize! It took him seven calls over two weeks, involving his blackberry service provider on a three way call to fix the issue.
Example 2: We cancelled the data service but they kept billing for it. It took repeated monthly calls to change that.
The contrast in customer service from a small, regional provider was stunning. Fast, knowledgeable. A supervisor even called us three days later to make sure we were satisfied! And their prices were much lower. We plan to cancel ATT as soon as my husband can more easily change his business phone number.
