I WAS OVERCHARGED FOR A 1999 YUKON. I HAVE PAID 4 TIMES AS MUCH OR MORE. I VOLUNTARILY GAVE VEHICLE BACK TO COMPANY. THE COMPANY NOW STATES THAT THEY REPOSSESSED THE VEHICLE FROM ME. I RECEIVED LETTER FROM COMPANY THAT THEY WERE GOING TO AUCTION THE VEHICLE OFF AND I COULD PAY THEM THE REMAINING BALANCE. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF AND I STILL HAVE TO PAY THEM A BALANCE OF 8,000 DOLLARS WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME FOR 21,000 AND I REALLY THINK THEY HAVE RIPPED ME OFF BIG TIME

ADD ME TO THE CLASS ACTION SUIT

AUTHOR: MadbutBLESSED - (United States of America)

I became a client of Automobile Acceptance Corp  11/11/11 I took a small loan on my 03 Explorer nothing I couldn't manage at the time with a 13 payments it would be ok. I got to payment 8 and lost my job I started with but informed them if my payment date moved by two weeks I would always be on time. I travel for work and last month I lost my wallet with everything in it. I had a check on file which since I closed that account bounced I received a letter dated 8/7/12  on 8/11/12 giving me until 8/17/12 to pay the missed payment.  I received a tow truck at my door on 8/13/12 I had just got back from a out of town trip for work when the tow truck showed up full 4 days before I could resolve anything. I had a off day on 8/12/12 now I have to try to get my car back and I don't stay on or near a bus line. The tow truck drivers can't take any money but they were told to make sure they get my truck today. I couldn't believe when the tow truck driver told me they have picked up a car with only $75 owed. I made a payment two weeks ago and I have only a few more payment to be done with the loan I will call tommorrow and see what they say but I have the funds for my payment I just needed the time to get my new cards.

These people have called and harassed my whole family the lady told my daughter that she BETTER get in touch with me when told that I wasn't home and had left my cellphone this lady told my daughter off. Keep in mind I have talked with them they KNow what I do.I'm home I'm MAD but I'm blessed. Anyone want to do a class action suit for their practices I'm game

Those Who Think They Know So Much Find Out They Know So Little!

AUTHOR: FURIOUS - (United States of America)

You should be very careful about what you say to others...the last person that bragged to me about how they made their payments on time every time missed one payment and their finance company repossessed their vehicle!  Furthermore, if you have been with AAC for the last 2 years you should thank me because I fought them with attorneys and it made them think twice about how they do business.  I will not continue this diatribe with you as future litigation is in the works!  Thank you for your opinion and the little it's worth!  If you are an AAC empolyee which I think you are, I will see you in the near future!

Just Curious

AUTHOR: FinanceSavvy76 - (United States of America)

After reading your comments about AAC I have to wonder what you were thinking when you signed your loan contract with AAC.  Did you read it?  Did you care what it said?  I am a customer of AAC, a single mother who has less than stellar credit and luckily AAC was there to finance me in a new car that I despirately needed.  I knew that I would have to pay a higher interest rate because of my poor credit so I carefully reviewed the loan contract and signed it only when I was 100% certain that I could afford the terms, not just right now, but for the full 60 months it would take to pay it back.  The bottom line is, your car got repossessed because you didn't make the payment.  That is how things work in the real world.  It is unfortunate that you fell on hard times and had difficulty making your payments, but according to the terms of the lending agreement YOU SIGNED, if you don't make the payment, the will take their property back.  Additionally, if they choose to auction the vehicle, and the car goes for less than you owe, you are still responsible for remaining balance.  All automobile finance companies are like that, allbeit due to the fact that ACC deals with customers who are considered a higher credit risk, the grace periods associated with non-payment are significantly shorter.  ALL THESE FACTS ARE IN THE CONTRACT.  If you buy a car, make sure you can afford it and ALWAYS READ THE CONTRACT.  If you did not do either of these things it is unfair to blame the finance company.  I have paid my car payment every month on time for two years and I have never ever had a single issue with AAC.  Imagine that!

AUTOMOBILE ACCEPTANCE IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL FINANCE COMPANY

AUTHOR: FURIOUS - (United States of America)

We appreciate the advice that you are tempting to give us, but it doesn't negate the fact that this company has questionable business practices.  If you have more than 3 consumers complaining about the same problems with an organization it should really be investigated regardless of purchasing tips.  Just because a consumer falls on hard times, it doesn't give a company the right to rob them when they are all ready down.

I'M INTERESTED IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THIS COMPANY

AUTHOR: FURIOUS - (United States of America)

Automobile Acceptance Corporation is one of the dirtiest companies I have ever done business with.  They wrongfully repossessed my vehicle, I got it back through my attorney.  After I got the vehicle back they locked me out of the system several times, and gave me a hassle each time I would make a payment at a dealership.  Around 1:54am after I returned from a trip home for Thanksgiving they repossessed the vehicle again.  This company needs to be taught a lesson! Anyone interested in a CLASS ACTION SUIT, please email me ASAP because they need to know that they are not going to continue to take advantage of consumers.  Let work together and shut Automobile Acceptance down for good!

#6 Consumer Suggestion

When buying a vehicle you should always do your homework first!

AUTHOR: Wstall2001 - (U.S.A.)

I have been in the financial industry for over 15 years now and I see your complain every day. What you must understand first and foremost is that vehicles will ALWAYS lose their value. You can buy a brand new vehicle today and drive off the lot and ride around the block and trade it in and lose major money. If you ever consider buying a new car, do some homework first. Go to http://www.nadaguide.com or call a local bank you deal with and put in the same year model as what you intend on purchasing and put in 12,000 miles with all the options. 12,000 miles signifies the average mileage for one year of ownership. Be prepared for the shock of your life as the information comes up. Further on this, if you look at the economy within the last couple of years, remember the gas prices being $4.50 a gallon?? Nobody could afford to drive the SUV's. Most places were having to give the vehicles away to get rid of them. Automakers were giving up to $10K in rebates just to push the vehicles off the lot. But even the rebates didn't help the value, it just decreased them even more. Small cars were (as still are) holding the best value right now because of demand.

If you decided to purchase a used vehicle, do the same procedure above going to the internet or calling the bank and always find out what clean trade-value is. When you look at the vehicle you intent on purchasing, see if it is showroom shine or if it has damage inside or out. If it smells funny, looks funny, squeaks or squeals HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BY YOUR PERSONAL MECHANIC!! Always remember this...if you ride off the lot in a vehicle and ANYTHING goes wrong...it's still YOUR vehicle. Don't blame it on the dealership or the finance company. YOU picked the vehicle out!

When a vehicle goes to the auction, a dealer purchases the vehicle taking in account the value they feel the vehicle is worth. Do they have to replace the tires, change the oil, is the check engine light or ABS light on?? Has the vehicle every been wrecked and was it properly repaired. It's not easy buying vehicles from the auction because it's a guessing game. You have to be extremely savy in your purchasing habits. You make the wrong move and that ABS light that you thought could just be reset cost you $1,200.00 for the entire system. Or the coolant light being on means the water pump just blew out and now you just spent $350.00 on the repair. Where does the dealer make his money?? Every aspect of buying a car from the dealers purchase to you as the consumer is pretty much the same. The dealer has to make a profit and you want a good deal.

And while I'm at it, let me say this to the folks who are getting caught up in repossessions. I know you are mad because you are losing your vehicle, but taking it out on the vehicle is going to cost you money. The radio you yanked out has to be replaced. The engine that you blew up has to be either replaced or the vehicle has to run through the auction as salvage and the same rules that are states above come into play. Changing the wheels and the tires from OEM..bad move! If you know your vehicle is about to get repossessed...JUST KNOW that if it doesn't bring your balance, you are going to be responsible for the balance left which means your either pay it voluntarily or get sued in most cases. Chalk up the loss, wash and clean the car inside and hand over the keys. I know it hurts but it will defintely save you in the long run. Just be the better person because I know there was at least one collector at the finance company who pissed you off! LOL

We all live and learn in this world and with each purchase that you make daily you will learn a better way each time you purchase something. Just do your homework and you will be very happy in the long run.
