I took my 2000 mitsubishi galant for a transmission problem at aamco of fresno. I don't know much about transmissions, but i think $3400 dollars to rebuilt a transmission and install new mounts is way too expensive. I asked around and many people say that a rebuilt transmission and labor should cost around $2000-$2500, but i'm being charged $900 more than that. I only went to aamco because they offer free towing and financing because i am aware that the repair of a transmission can be costly.
Can anyone tell me if thats way too much for a rebuilt transmission?

There are many different types of repairs that can be made to a transmission. Which also dictate the many differneces in cost of repair. AAMCO is without question the largest national transmission repair faculity in the country and with that comes without question the best warranty avaliable from San Deigo to Maine at over 900 locations. Most AAMCO transmissions are remanufactured.. that means that the transmission has been remanufactured to meet or exceed manufacturers original standard. The "other guys" are rebuilt or recondidioned to last as long as the warranty with minimal internal repair thereby reducing the cost of repair as well as the warranty, these warranties typically range from 3 months to 12 months rearly exceeding 12,000 miles.
Who compares to AAMCO? well only the manufacturers dealer, most domestic transmissions from the manufacturer's dealer are 3 year 100,000 mile warranties. And only the dealer has equal national representation at a greater cost, check it out for yourself. Import transmissions range from 12 month to 36 month and 12,000 to 36,000 mile (this is not always the case) from the manufacturer's dealer.
Nobody includes free towing with any transmission failure after major repair like AAMCO does. If your transmission fails during the warranty period AAMCO will tow your vehicle to the closest AAMCO for free and repair your transmission at no addational cost to you. Not even the manufacturer's dealer will do that.
Nobody offers lifetime warranties like AAMCO does. To offer proof that AAMCO builds the best transmission when your vehicle is offered for pick up you will be offered a lifetime upgrade. This offer is made at the time you pick up your car not prior during any repair dialogs. When AAMCO builds a transmission it's built to last a lifetime no corners cut.
Without question lets addres unhappy customer as Mrs.P. Yes Mrs.P AAMCO did tow your Galant to the faculity for "FREE" yes Mrs.P AAMCO did offer financing which you did qualify for in part. Yes Mrs. P you did receive a 3 Year 100,000 waranty. Yes Mrs. P you will receive should you need a free tow should you ever need no matter where you are to the closest AAMCO. Yes Mrs. P. you can purchsae a lifetime upgrade. Mrs. P yes you did purchase a transmission that is built to the highest standard filled with synthetic fluid built to last, for seriously less than you would have from Mitsubshi. Everybody else is just "prunes".
AAMCO of FRESNO cares about your problems and wants to solve them for good, are we perfect no, do we make mistakes yes but I assure everybody, as the OWNER of AAMCO of Fresno I will do every thing in my power to solve your issues for the lowest possible cost according to my quality standards. I will not cut costs I will not lower my standards to compete with "the prunes" You will get what you paid for and in the long run you will eventually be happier.
