Classic Bait and Switch!!!
Don't buy from them! plan to buy a $28 Sony charger, they call the next day about a 4 week back order and they want to upgrade me to a better charger by Vivitar for only only $40. i said no i want my Sony brand they claimed it was better and said he'd give it to me for the same as the Sony i say okay. Then i go on the site to look up the item. I call him to confirm which item it is. The item is actually a CTA which is an 3-party manufacture. the item is listed for 89 but hes offering it for 28. i have seen these brands from 6-12 and they do have decent ratings. But this isnt what i want, i've had bad personal experiences with generic brands for my battery so i wanted to stick with the brand. i was even willing to pay more but found this website and thought i'd give it a try. Anyway i say okay so i can hang up the phone and tell my husband that this is a bait and switch, and that i'm very familiar with how these work. [continued below]....
...... my husband became so furious he called back to cancel. We had no problem canceling.. i am extremely tech savy and worked in both a photo lab, and a computer tech repair place so i have knowledge of peripherals and much more. i fear if i didnt have that knowledge he would of ripped me off. we needed this for my son and i'd hate for anyone to get taken by them! there are things posted all over the net about them and other companies just like them! This is ILLEGAL!
I see that a reputable website (ResellerRatings.com) has them listed with a considerably high rating. (This is common with other websites like FotoConnection.com who have high ratings but if you look at BBB they warn you about them and their countless aliases! I actually had to set up a BBB report for this b/c they weren't on file. I can see how this could discourage others from reporting if they dont know what to do.) But if you look at the low ratings you'll see what i'm talking about... Every low rating has the same thing i'm explaining... good o'l bait and switch tactics... pushy and intimidating employees..
Elliott Court (who claims he is the supervisor) even went as far as to threaten me saying "I dont want to have to pursue action against you" and even went as far as saying "Everything your saying is UNtrue". Never in my life have i ever had customer service that horrible. They have left 3 messages on my phone for three days straight and i wont answer b/c i am intimidated, i honestly feel there is nothing they could do to convince me that this isnt a scam, and to me if i answer the phone w/o a tape recorder it is he said she said... which i rather have evidence like a voice mail message which i have plenty of. Elliott also wrote on Resellerratings.com that i must be the "competition".. whatever that means.. seems like its your way of saying i am unreliable.. But let me ask you something? if i wasnt reliable why would i waste my time... If this is the competition why would i have an Invoice number and a canceled order which i have proof of regardless if you erase it from you records.
I have also taken the liberty of keeping records of all evidence, including photos, screen shots, item details, postings on Resellerratings.com, and of coarse the voice mail messages. I'm keeping these because i have heard about several of these bait and switch scams in the NY area. So if there is a lawyer, FBI, whatever legal representative you are... I have the evidence its not going anywhere, in fact it'll be backed up. so feel free to contact Ripreport for my info.. if you need it! I'm more than willing to cooperate!
My advice is to thoroughly read customer reviews, and if your not satisfied, DONT DO IT.. its your gut telling you the right thing. Even though Reseller is one of the best in my opinion, all it takes is someone with an invoice number to write something. It then takes the website to monitor and consider if its accurate or not, or helpful, whatever their policy is.
I would never go as far as to write a report, and waste valuable time for something so measly as 28$. This is something i debated for days before posting on this site. Honestly, its not the money that matters to me. It is the principle! If i can save someone from the heartache and stress of this company than i have done my job as a consumer advocate! Remember YOU matter! without consumerism even reputable businesses would never work.. It takes someone to buy something in order for the person who's selling it to make money. Dont let it happen to you! Stand up for yourself and others!
