Bought a brand new Acer desktop PC with no monitor just keyboard and mouse with it. The first day I brought it home it sounded loud for being brand new. This was my 3rd new computer and the other 2 computers I had in the past were always wisper quiet brand new and both lasted years. I was going to take it back to the store the first day I bought it before registering it. I told my son this is what I was going to do because it sounded loud in the way it operated and it shouldn't sound like that. He didn't want me to take it back because we now had a new computer and talked me out of it. I decided to keep it and to wait and see if the noise meant anything. Five months later I had to keep rebooting it for it to start and once it did it would freeze after that. Did several things like checked for virus which there was no virus, did system restore, system recovery, and start up repair (something computer has) and still kept doing the same thing. BUT, when I did a scan to see what problems the computer had it would always say no problems were detected (after getting computer started.) Finally I called Acer to report this. I also told them it sounded loud the day I got it and explained wanting to take back to store and deciding to keep. I had to pay for shipping to send it to them close to $45.00. They sent it back with a paper stating they updated BIOS and DMI and reimaged the hard drive. It STILL did the SAME THING when they returned it. and under remarks it was written "Service Scratches". There was NO scratches on the computer when I sent it and NO scratches when I got it back...yet this was written for some reason. I called and reported it still had the same problem. They said to ship it again and this time will pay for the shipping. I asked why was it shipped back not repaired. I said I was concerned that they don't take their service and product seriously and 400.00 was a lot of money for me to spend on something and on top of that had to pay S/H to send. I said it was defective when I got it. They actually asked ME if it was the hard drive over the phone or the fan. I said I didn't think the noise I heard was the fan since I know what a fan running sounds like BUT didn't know if it was the hard drive because I'm not a computer repair person, I don't build them just like I don't make cars or T.V's...that they're supposed to be professionals who can know exactly (the truth) what the real problem is. I said I wanted it replaced. or refunded or fixed properly by someone who knows what they're doing. I was told it by the customer service person they don't provide replacement or refunds but would fix it. I said the warranty information I had said at it's option Acer will provide replacement parts necessary to replace with a comparable product or refund the amount less depreciation. He then said since I called and stated 'this' something will be done and it will be resolved. I don't have it back to know if it will be fixed or replaced or what. I can tell you Acer's customer service center doesn't know what they are doing. They act like they are reading from a script when they talk to you AND they won't really help you. Also, everyone I've talked to sounded 'like' they were from India so I don't know where the customer service is located..just an 800#. The repair center has an address. I don't trust Acer. They lie...they're dishonest. They don't take their product seriously AT ALL and do attempt to avoid the warranty. Any place like this should be avoided. If they don't fix it (for real and for good), or replace it or provide refund they're thieves. It needs replaced because I don't trust it will be fixed since they act like they don't know what they're doing. It WAS defective before I opened the box.
