My fiancee and I began receiving magazines and had no clue where they came from or why! We then began receiving a monthly bill which over the course of the year I paid in full. We received renewal notices from each magazine which we refused! Thinking it was over, we then received calls saying we had "just" agreed to a new contract and they needed a new credit card for our account, we informed the company we did not agree to a new contract and requested it be canceled! we were informed we couldn't cancel because of a 30 day lapse. There were no 30 days! We never spoke to anyone from this company! We NEVER agreed to this! The company in question says they prepaid all magazines for 36 months so why are we receiving renewal notices from individual magazines? Now, we receive phone calls in excess of 6 times in a day threatening us with legal actions because we refuse to pay for any more. We were told there is a recorded phone conversation that proves we agreed to a renewal. We asked the company to provide us with this recording and the phone calls stopped for about 2 weeks. The calls have since resumed! My fiance received 6 calls just today (Aug 7th, 2009) Going through the same harassing conversations. Each call was a different telemarketer who claimed to be a manager, one individual demanded a credit card number and was told there is no way in hell he was going to get it! We have actually gone as far as to cancel the old card and have new ones issued to keep this bogus company from draining us dry! We are registered on the national no call list yet, we continually receive these calls. My fiance has stated in the conversations that it is illegal to make harassing calls to him at work (Ca. law) They have been asked to stop all calls, they refuse. We have received no proof whatsoever to any such agreement because there is NO PROOF! We did not agree, Do not agree and will not ever agree to doing any business with such a low company!
This report is only my first step in dealing with this particular company! Let the community beware! Active Periodicals is a scam!
