I patronize Adams feed store occasionally, only because they are the only ones within a 10 mile radius that carries the brand of dog food I feed. I am constantly appalled at the uncleanliness of the facility and the rudeness of the staff. When you walk into the place the smell alone could knock you down. I have observed dead birds left in cages of extremely overcrowed conditions, filthy water containers, and puppies in small overcrowded cages that are urine stained and very dirty. There are dust balls and cobwebs hanging from the walls and ceiling. I have tried to overlook the situation to save driving time, but today it all came to a head. I am a dog lover and to see the puppies in this type of enviornment is disgusting. I offered to purchase one puppy in particular today, at a discount off the asking price, that I have watched virtually grow up in the small overcrowed cage. This puppy has been there several months and is now adult size for it's breed. I held the puppy and upon inspection noted that it had possible ear infections and was covered in dried urine, was filthy and smelled atrocious. I was prepared to pay a discount price for the puppy and hopefully rehome it, a rescue if you will. The young man and woman at the counter became very short and refused to even discuss any type of discount or to even contact the person that could authorize one. They virtually snatched the dog off the counter away from me and placed in back in the pen and turned their backs on me, signaling the conversation was over. I left vowing to never patronize Adams Feed Store again for any reason and do everything in my power to discourage any person I come into contact with from doing business with them. So please, do not perpetuate their greedy puppy mill business by buying the puppies. Without a source for their sales, puppy mills will dry up and puppies will not end up being sold in feed stores in deplorable conditions. Trust me there are wonderful dogs at the animal control shelters and rescue organizations that are begging for good homes. Please do the right thing and don't get suckered emotionally into buying puppies in feed and pet stores. They all come from puppy mills.
