Advanced Chimney Inc. Falsely told us we had a serious carbon monoxide problem as well as needed chimney liner, etc. Ronkonkoma, New York

  Advanced Chimney Inc. called our home and offered a chimney cleaning and inspection for $49.95 plus tax.  When they first contacted us by phone, I specifically told them we had a cap on our chimney which I expected them to re-cement if they took it off to clean the chimney.  On April 20th, they purportedly did the cleaning and also told my husband, who was at home, that they had re-cemented the cap back on the chimney.

They also stated to my husband that we had a very serious carbon monoxide problem and that our burner might explode if we did not also have a liner, approx. 20 ft. of smooth wall stainless steel, installed in our chimney.  Price quoted as $1,500.

Having seen a Rip-off Report of another dissatisfied customer on line, my husband told them we would get a second opinion, which we did from a reputable chimney company who is a member of the chimney cleaning guild.  That company came the next day and after examining Advanced Chimney's work, told us they actually had done a very shoddy job and this company removed a lot of debris which was left in the flue by Advanced Chimney and they actually re-cleaned our chimney properly and re-cemented the cao which was not replaced, as requested, but was merely left sitting on the chimney top.

The reputable company also said there was absolutely no carbon monoxide problem and that Advanced Chimney was not at all honest with us about all the extra things that were suggested.
