As a practice, Advanced Marketing Concepts withholds the first week of employment until one leaves the company. At that time, they tell you your final check will be mailed to you. This is not the case. They have stalled payroll until after the banks close on a Friday night. They have delayed payroll until the week following when it was due. I worked for the company for over 6 months and had the highest average numbers. I was promoted to supervisor after 2 months and again to Account Executive after another 2 months. I was placed on salary upon being promoted to supervisor and that continued until my termination.
Our department was told we were closed for Thanksgiving Thursday and the following Friday. When we received our payroll, none of us was paid for that time off even though none of us had requested it. I typically worked 60 + hours per week and produced outstanding results as evidenced by comments made by my accounts. We were then given the week off between Christmas and New Year's only to pick up our checks on 12/30/11 along with a termination letter stating the position was eliminated. Great Timing!!!
I had always stood behind the company and arrived early and remained late....EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! I am not a youngster and I know what employers look for in the people that work for them. When I wrote to Angelique Hofacre CEO about my final paycheck, she advised me to come pick it up on 01/13/12 at 2 p.m. When I arrived at the office, her doors were locked and I was told they were not on the property. I tried to work with her about my money but, after that incident, she refused to respond. I finally contacted the Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division and advised them of my issues. Don Queen (President) apparently lied to the DOL by stating our Thanksgiving time off was individually chosen. My case is currently in process and I recommend everyone who has not been paid what they were told to contact the Department of Labor as I did. Let them handle it!
The bottom line is that this company frequently misrepresents its product to its customers. I found that out firsthand upon becoming an account executive. The company has numerous times had its power turned off or their dialer shut down due to non-payment. The owners (Angelique & Don) are so used to lying that they tell the employees that the power company or internet company made a mistake. Their lies are so transparent that anyone can see right through them.
I find it amazing that these owners had some exceptional employees and have chosen to treat them in such an unprofessional manner. I have personally seen and heard the yelling between the owners in front of employees. I have witnessed numerous times when police were responding to employees who did not receive their paychecks.
I tried to assist this company with my previous business experience but I have found that they are simply not willing to make the necessary changes with both personnel and business practices to succeed. I am certain they will either close their doors completely or change their name (dealerforce is a possibility) in order to avoid addressing outstanding issues.
My recommendation....find another job and stay away from these people!!!
