To whom it may concern,
I was called on the phone in Dec. 2001 and given info about an Advantage Capital unsecured MASTERCARD . Since I am attempting to re-establish credit I agreed to apply for a Mastercard from your company. I gave my bank account info and my approval to electronically deduct $159.00 from my account. I was NEVER informed that this supposed Mastercard card was actually a pay as you go! I am certainly not now or ever interested in your pay as you go card!
In the first part of Jan of 2002 I received another call from a telemarketing solicitor from your company asking if I was interested in applying for a Mastercard. I then replied I have already applied for the Mastercard but have not received it in the mail yet. I then began to ask your representative more questions about this Mastercard. I took NUMEROUS attempts to get a straight answer from her. This is the point in time she finally slipped and told me it was a pay as you go card. You had to put money upfront in order to use the card . Is this what you consider a unsecured credit card? You also had to use it before ever even being able to apply for real Mastercard. I told the rep CANCEL MY ACCOUNT AS I WAS FALSELY mislead and given wrong information regarding your company and I am no longer interested ! I demanded a full refund.
At this time I did not know that your company had actually taken out $174.90!!! You told me that the amount to be taken out to activate my Mastercard would be $159.90. The first of many an illegal acts your company would perform. The first rep I spoke with also said that I must sign a bank waiver okaying the amount to be withdrawn from my account. I never received such a paper to sign. The next day I followed up on this call dialing your customer service number. I spoke with Joel , rep. #4. He said he would refund the entire $174.90 and I should see it in my account by Feb 15,2002.
Today, Feb 5th ,2002 I called Advantage Capital and asked where my refund was. The rep said I would only get $99.99 back. She said there was a processing fee, shipping and handling etc. I stopped her in the middle of her lame excuses and I said I never I received my card as I cancelled it (so there is no reason for shipping and handling fee). I also said to forget me paying the processing fee as I was fraudulently and falsely given wrong and misleading info. She said she would note it on my account. I then asked to speak to her manager. She said there was no one available. I then asked for the cooperate office phone number. She said all she had was an address, no number. Now this seems VERY STRANGE that a company does not give their employees the company headquarters phone number for clients. She said that I could write you.
I also asked the rep today if she ever heard of a company called EPHONE. She said yes. I asked her if she knew anything about your company giving them my banking info. She then took a few minutes on the computor to look it up. She replied that I was signed up for EPHONE and HOUSEHOLD PROTECTION by my first rep. in Dec, 2001. I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THESE BOGOUS COMPANIES. This is your second illegal act, giving confidential baking info to other companies without my permission. The third illegal act, signing me up for something I know absolutely nothing about. I find out from my bank that EPHONE electronically deducted $54.90 from my account.
I am shocked as to how your company conducts it business. I now have my bank investigating your business. See below to all the businesses whom I am sending this letter to. I expect a full refund of $174.90 ASAP!!!! I will not wait. Your company is going to find itself in hot water for your illegal practices. I also found a web site with very damaging yet informative info about your company. Looks like you could be criminally prosecuted!! I will keep up my continous actions and fight for consumers rights! I will not stop until this matter has been resolved.
