I was talked into a tanning contract through this company. When I tried to cancel it, I was told it can only be canceled if you prove you live more than 25 miles away from one of their locations. Even then, it's a $75.00 fee. I stopped using their company months ago and they have refused to cancel my automatic withdrawl. I recently changed my bank account to get them to stop. They now threaten to send me to collections! For a service I no longer use! I have talked to many many others in the Denver/Boulder area who are having this same problem. We have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau.

These people will rip you off!!!!!! Fight them!!!

"Courtesy Cancel" is a hoax!

AUTHOR: Colorado - (U.S.A.)

Please file complaints with the Attorney Generals Office.  At the Beach was recently exposed on Channel 31 News in Denver.  Lawyers are involved in the case.  The company claimed they would offer a "courtesy cancel" to customers who were unhappy with the contract situations.  When I called At the Beach, their "courtesy" involved me paying my full bill - just like before.  When I asked to speak with a manager, I was put on hold and then through to voice mail.  I then called the reporter at Channel 31 and let her know about the new hoax.  She called me back personally and said she's heard the same from many other customers.  She is following up and getting lawyers and the Attorney Generals Office involved.

Please keep fighting this company!  It was illegal for them to verbally lie about their contracts.  Yes, illegal - not just morally wrong - also illegal.

Colorado, Denver

AT the Beach Employees LIE to obtain contracts TULSA

AUTHOR: Spickle - (U.S.A.)

In Tulsa, OK..My daughter signed a contract with "At the Beach" in Tulsa, OK... She ONLY agreed because the employee told her she could cancel it at any time...this is the only reason she signed up for these services.  Afterwards, she learned she had lupus and the doctor told her not to be exposed to sunlight or tanning, in addition, the spray tan irritated her skin causing itching and hives, and strenous exercise is not recommended in order to protect her joints. She returned to At the Beach to cancel the program, and was told by another employee that she had been "lied to"  only to make a sale.  She also told her that her contract period was for 2 years which is not possible because she definately would not have signed a contract for that period of time, and again only signed up because she was plainly told she could "cancel at any time".  AND....She was not given a copy of this contract, so she would be able to prove that she did not agree to a 2 year contract.  She put her services on hold for 3 months while she obtained a doctors note stating why she could not use the services of "At the Beach" and then received a demand letter for back payments which she paid.  Then, At the Beach stopped withdrawing money from her acct.  and once again has sent another demand letter. She has made several attempts to call the customer care number, but no one ever answers.

It's NOT At The Beach's fault people sign contracts without reading them.

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

There really is nothing to "fight" in regards to a contract with At The Beach. It states very clearly on the contract that you are agreeing to 6, 12, or 24 months of continuing montly dues. It also clearly states that the only way to cancel a 12/24 month agreement is to show proof of relocating more than 25 miles from a store and that there is a $75.00 fee to cancel. You have to sign TWICE, check and initial saying you agree to the terms/length of the contract. Neither At The Beach nor Affiliated Acceptance Corporation should be to blame for the fact that people are just obviously signing things before they fully read/understand them.
