I am disabled from a shoulder operation to repair a torn  larbrum so I faxed all the forms to all the right people for disability.I Called Aflac the next three weeks and various people answered the phone and each told me that they were waiting for a different form from someone this goes on for three weeks and finally when I call and they have all the documents in their hands they say i'm denied. When you call they say on there that Aflac processes claims in about 3 days Ha.They also said that since I went to my doctor for a sore shoulder before their policy was in effect that it was
a pre-existing condition. now I counted on these people for my disability but now can't pay my bills needless to say how bad our christmas was. The only saving grace is that my son is home for the holidays. I'm going to go back as soon as I can to work sore shoulder or not. These people took my money and when it came time to pay they backed out. don't listen to these reps of theirs they are just there to take your money.DONT COUNT ON AFLAC

AFLAC

AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

NO I do not work for them.  Have had their dental for 5+ years and never had a problem before and YES I did read my policy.  For $30.00 a month it works for me.  I will be looking into getting more insurance through them because they do pay their claims.

What they don't advertise.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

Aflac advertises that if you get hurt they're there with the cash. "

They don't advertise that you should only get their policy after you know you're going to need it to pay off.    Insurance doesn't work that way.     I don't blame them for being suspicious when you sign up for insurance and filed a claim within a few months.    A lot of people try that.  It never works.

shoulder

Let me guess this person is an insurance exec. Your a better person than I if you can read three paragraphs and tell my intelligence level. Aflac mirepresented itself to me in my opinion. I don't have the luxury of being out of work with out a paycheck . Aflac advertises that if you get hurt they're there with the cash. This is the last rebuttal I'll send since I'll be going back to work.
I don't have time to sit here all day like you have.

You did not read your policy

AUTHOR: NoSoap - (USA)

Just because a diagnosis wasn't made, you STILL had a pre-existing condition.  Read your policy.  They define "pre-existing condition" as anything that you received medical advice, diagnosis or treatment for, or for which symptoms existed that would have caused a prudent person to seek medical advice."

You had pain in your shoulder....this is symptom.    It didn't present itself as a tear until after your effective date, but that still does not negate the fact that you had a pre-existing symptom.

All disabilty plans define prexisting conditions this way...every singe one of them.

You weren't ripped off...people truly don't understand disability insurance.  They think they have a 'right' to it.  They don't.  It's a product that is sold in order to realize a profit.   That is why companies MUST exclude disabilities caused by pre-existing conditions; otherwise they'd go out of business.

Also, you aren't showing very much class or eduation with your choice of language.  Just saying.

Pre-ex

AUTHOR: h978886 - (United States of America)

Pre-ex is a reality of insurance policies, especially disability. Most people ignore these limitations until they file a claim, then play the role of "victim" very well when things don't go their way.

I just have to ask...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

"They also said that since I went to my doctor for a sore shoulder before their policy was in effect that it was a pre-existing condition."

Was it a pre-existing condition? Most policies specifically exclude this. Did you just take out this policy?
