In the first letter, I was asked to pay a debt of $73.29 for an MCI account.  I don't ever recall having an MCI account and if, I did, I certainly would have paid any debt associated with it since I have excellent credit.  It said on the letter that I could write and ask for documentation proving that I have this debt and also stated that I think they found the wrong person.  I sent a letter via priority mail with delivery confirmation.  I didn't get a response to my request. However, I just received another letter saying that "We are making another attempt to contact you regarding your overdue account.  In an effort to resove this matter we will accept $51.30, 70% of the current amount due.  Once paid, our records will reflect the status of your account with Afni, Inc as settled in full.  We are not obligated to renew this offer."  They provide a phone number I can call to ask questions which is 888-655-2411.  I feel this is a total scam.  If I had owed any money in the past, the creditor would have contacted me regarding that ... and that debt would be on my credit report too.  Neither has happened and I've always filled out change of address forms, etc, when I've moved over the years.  It is suspicous that Afni did not respond to my request for them to send me records of this debt.  All they did was send a second letter asking for less money this time.  I will be pissed if this company can report this debt to a credit agency because I know it doesn't belong to me.  This seems like a total scam to me.  Hopefully, a good lawyer will find all these complaints on this site and take care of this in a class action lawsuit.

This is one of the worst third party collection scum agencies

Visit www.budhibbs.com and learn about these lowlifes - never EVER make arrangements with  a third party debt collector = dispute this with the three credit bureaus and fight back

Check your credit report for illegal inquiries.  If you have them dispute them.  They are worth 2 points a piece on your credit score.
