HI, I made an online purchase on the 28th jan 2009 for a paint mixer. This item is plastic and about the size of a small mobile phone. It operates on 2x AA size batteries[Not included}. When I received this Item I noticed that the body of the mixer {the 2xplastic halves} were so loose you could actually see the motor inside.

When I put brand new batteries in, the whole thing fell apart.This item is so simple it's only made from a few parts- small motor, 2xplastic half cases and a switch. Next I tightened the 2x screws which held the two case halves together,only to notice the cause of the problem.

The screws were unable to tighten as the plastic threads were stripped from the plastic case during manufacturing.{Due to over tightening} Now, If you were desperate you could hold the item together by holding it in a tight grip and it will work(motor operates}but the moment you release your grip the whole thing will fall to pieces .

The following are the actual emails between the seller [S ] and myself [M] :-



[M]#1 Hi, I received my items today ORDER NUMBER 00001492, ORDER DATE 28-JAN-2009.
The Badger Mini Paint Mixer did not work when new batteries were used. On closer inspection
it was found that the actual white casing was loose, making any battery or switch connection
impossible. The Casing is loose because the 2x screws holding it together can not be tightened
as the thread holes in the case have been stripped by over tightening during manufacturing.
Please could you advise me on what I should do to receive a replacement.

[ NEARLY 2 WEEKS LATER NO RESPONSE, NO EMAIL INFORMING ME THAT HE HAS RECEIVED THE ITEM AND WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO]

So I sent him this email on the 25TH FEB 2009 :-

The best thing to do considering our distance is if you may like to purchase something else from our website and I will send the replacement and a free paint kit with it.

[S]#3 I have just put batterys in and tightened the screws and it works just fine, my guess is you had the battery's in the wrong way and forced the end cap back it which spread the case, however the item is not faulty as it works just fine.

You will now need to purchase an item worth $15 for me to send it back, that will be for freight only not for goods.

[M]#3 being an electronics engineer for the past 15 years i can assure you that i did not put the batteries in the wrong way!! the item was delivered unfit for purpose, i did not force any part of the item, i would not have gone to the effort and cost of returning it to Australia unless i was sure it was faulty, the eraser that i received at the same time was as described however the paint mixer was not. how were you able to tighten the screws when the threads in the case are fully stripped? i will not be paying you anything and i expect you to send a working undamaged replacement or a full refund or i will be reporting your company to trading standards



[S]#4 How can I send you a new one when it works, I am happy to send it back in full working condition, however because the item is not faulty I am not paying the freight.

As a consumer you have rights, as I supplier so do I and the product works fully



[M]#4 I Will expect either a full refund or a new replacement I'm not paying you freight either. I dont care that you've managed to get the screws to grip just enough to hold the case together and switch it on. I've been advised to give you 14 days to send a replacement or refund.
Trading standards will be in touch with you shortly after that.

I'm not going to let this go and if need be, I will share my experience with airbrush megastore to as many airbrush websites on the www.

As far as slander on websites and forums I will see you in court as soon as I see any slander, my legal team will on the look out, your attitude is deplorable. One must ask if i put the batterys in the right way , WHY did it work when you stated it didn't



[M]#5 just to make it clear to you it is the casing that is falling apart and not the internal motor. i find your attitude is deplorable, i cant be responsible for all those who saw the product i purchased from you, and saw the state of the casing, commenting on your products and obvious lack of honesty on the product, your talk of slander carries no weight. why would a customer send an item back to you if it was in good working order!!! you need to get some advice on customer care. a large number of air brush artists who have seen the paint mixer are equally disgusted with your response. the question anybody would ask is what have i got to gain by returning an item that (in your words is in full working order) and ask for a replacement. my telephone number is =========

I HOPE EVERY ONE WHO READS THIS REALISES THAT THE SELLER IS AVOIDING ANY BLAME AND IS BLATENTLY REFUSING TO PAY ANY SHIPPING, WHICH IS EVIDENT FROM HIS #2 EMAIL.

Pryor to posting this product back to him, you could literely drop the screws into the casing ,turn the 2 screws forever, tip the item upside down and the screws would fall out [holes have become too big for screws]. This is like buying a small pocket size torch, putting the batteries in and finding the end cap wont screw on. If you hold the cap in place yourself , this will keep the batteries from falling out and the torch will light up. So technically the torch works. This is the poor excuse this seller is using.

I hope that there is some way I could get a refund or replacement, and help stop him from ripping anyone else off.

I Would like to take this opportunity to let everybody know (specifically all airbrush artists "World wide") that Steve and Airbrush Megastore in Adelaide, Australia are completely genuine,honest and respectable suppliers of Airbrush equipment.

 Since my report on a  mini paint mixer that I purchased, I have communicated with Steve at Airbrush Megastore and now I regret that I didn't contact him back sooner. I will also admit that I acted a little hastily in the beginning and should of calmed down. 

 I would like to apologise to Steve at Airbrush Megastore for my hasty report, as I now realise that he would of resolved the situation earlier if I had contacted him soon after my complaint to talk it through more thoroughly and calmly.

  Steve has since, sent me a replacement mini paint mixer, and very kindly sent me an IWATA airbrush with some dvd's. thank you Steve.
 
 When I first found  the Airbrush Megastore website I was very impressed with the Airbrush  equipment and paint they supply, they sell accessories that I couldn't find in the Uk.

  They sell top brand items at affordable prices and postage costs are low too.

 I am happy to be able to buy from them again,and would recommend Airbrush Megastore to anyone.  thank you for reading this report.   Steve Cawley
