On March 12, 2012, Direct Air cancelled all of their flights throughout the United States. [4] Passengers were not given reasons for the abrupt cancellations. On March 13, 2012 a statement issued by Marketing Maneger, Ed Warnek indicated that flights would resume on Wednesday, March 14. Flight cancellations were attributed to a
missed fuel payment. [5] "They pulled the plug. When that happens, you cant put the plane in the air." - Warnek [6] further news releases on March 13, indicate that flights will not resume until May 15 at the earliest. [7]

Above information I have found in Wikipedia. The reason I am including that in my report because I received similar info in my email stating cancelations that period of time. 

Here I like to describe my travelling experiences with direct air. I bought some family ties from direct air.  Then I booked for going to Florida. Flight is supposed to be 8:15 AM 11:15 AM. So we went there very earlier to catch the plane.  As soon as get there, we hear from the receptionist that flight will be in delay.  So we had to kill all day long in the middle of nowhere in order to catch the plane again in the evening at 23:30. It was really a great experience that we do not want to have second time.  We arrived to lake land at 3:00 AM in the morning. So we had to pay high price to rent a car. Rental Company seems to be working together with direct air however not fair at all. Their charge is $135/day.

The cost of rent is pretty expensive for a very small car and I didnt have any other choice.  Hotel room was reserved
from yesterday and we arrived to our hotel next morning.  Vacation of my day one was in bed all day long because of that unexpected delay of journey. 11 days later: - Now vacation is over we will need to return home. We went to catch the plane again in the Lakeland airport.  Guess what folks?  You got it right. Flight was in delay again. Morning
flight changed to the evening.  At this time I dont even know how to kill again all day long till evening.  We stayed all day long in the airport then evening... so I rent a room in hotel near Plattsburgh airport.  I saw some other people in the airport so my hopes were increased.  Reception desk lady made me calm down. She told me that I should be getting refund if I can provide voucher of my expenses.  As soon as I got home I provided the entire voucher I spend for that purpose of delay but I got no refund at all.

My family ties voucher will be expired by April 30, 2012. So I took one week off again to book for return tickets.  I rent hotel room as well as car rental. They were all prepaid.  I took my days off for a week at the end of this month. And today I got this letter from direct air:-

Direct Air finds it necessary to suspend flight operation from Tuesday, March 13, 2012 until May 15, 2012. This decision was made to address operational matters. We are currently evaluating strategic alternatives for Direct Air.

Direct Air is committed to our passengers, employees, and the communities we serve.

I want to make an official complaint. If you are one of many victims like me, please you do the same thing. This will work. Trust me. Thank you for reading this. Its a little long but I couldnt do any shorter.

-
Don't expect any refunds or credits for your "complaint".  Because this sounds like business speak for...We want to see if anyone will give us more money so we can operate, but if they don't we are going to go Bankrupt.

If that happens any "claims" you have against the company are going to be at the bottom of a very long list.  Meaning that if you get any cash back at all consider yourself lucky, but prepare yourself for chalking most(if not all) of your expenses as money that is gone.
