I want to share my attempted buying experience that I encountered w/ Al Lamb's Dallas Honda. For several weeks I had been watching a number of new 2006 Interceptors both on eBay & Cycle Trader. Around the region there were several listings for $7995 & $7999 but living in Texas I wanted to keep my business local. I was also watching a 2006 Honda Interceptor VFR800 being relisted repeatedly by Dallas Honda on eBay ..... it was also listed on Cycle Trader, the price specified on both sites was $8699.

On 3/13/2008 I dropped by the show room and was greeted by Rob Young and briefly viewed the Interceptor (in the 5 minutes that I was escorted by Rob he showed me where the bike was located and let me sit on a used Interceptor), the price on the show room floor was $8299. The following week I called in & asked to speak w/ Joe Gentle/Sales Manager, my intent was to negotiate a fair price directly rather than waste a sales person's time as a go-between ..... instead Brian Ralph/Internet Sales took my call and informed me that Joe was running payroll. I informed Brian of my interest & the prices I had found and asked him to run the numbers and call me back he did not return my call.

Later that day I called back and Brian excused his failure to return my call by telling me that there was no way they would match those prices so he did not bother calling me back ..... I asked for the best out-the-door price and was promised a return call. Brian called back w/ $9194 ($8299, plus $199 F&A, $556.62 Tax, $50 Doc, & $89 I&R) and let me know that I had my choice of Black or White for that price. On 3/20/2008 I returned to Al Lamb's Dallas Honda and was again greeted by Rob, I asked to speak w/ Brian because I was working on the price thru him but Rob informed me that he could finalize the deal. Rob rolled the white Interceptor off the show room floor into a sales area, left briefly and returned w/ a "4-squares" sheet showing a price of something in the neighborhood of $9700.

I stated that was not the price I was quoted and Rob asked me to "make an offer" ..... after studying the sheet I saw there was an extra $499 for freight that explained the difference in price. I asked that they match the $8k price I had seen at other dealerships and drop the $499 freight as well as the $199 F&A and recalculate the tax (making my offer approximately $8700). Rob left w/ my offer and returned w/ $9500 as the best price. I reminded him that I already had a quote for $9194, but Rob told me that was not going to happen because he had several other interested buyers that were coming in during the upcoming weekend.

I left disappointed, but after speaking w/ a buddy and garnering his interest in buying one of the 2 available Interceptors (black vs. white) I called in and offered that we could come in immediately and purchase both if we could get an out-the-door price in the $9k each price range ..... that offer was refused.

After the weekend the Interceptor was still listed on eBay, so I e-mailed Brian and explained that Rob had not been agreeable to the quote he had given me the week before. Brian's reply was that $9500 was the best price he could do. I replied back begging to know what happened to $9194? Brian replied that the bike was sold ..... period ..... no offer to sell me an 07 or a new 08 ..... just sold. I replied that I would be sharing this information w/ you, Al Lamb ..... the owner and ultimately their boss. No response. So, I drove to the dealership and there was the Interceptor STILL on the show room floor! The bike was NOT sold and when I got back to my computer the listing was still on eBay ..... I clicked the "buy-it-now" option and the next day I got a response from Brian again stating that the item was sold - I left justly deserved negative feedback.

Al Lamb's Honda is Dishonest

AUTHOR: Michael Campbell - (United States of America)

Hi, I found this site when I was looking for other reviews about Al Lamb's Honda. Al Lamb's Honda also owns High Five Cycles which is right across the highway from them. In the summer of 2006 my 1982 Suzuki GS 650 started making a loud ticking noise which would increase in speed when I accelerated. Knowing nothing about motorcycles I took my Suzuki to High Five Cycle. They quoted me $230 in labor to find out what was wrong with the bike. I picked the bike up a week later and they told me the looked into the top of the engine and my cam chain had stretched and had to be replaced. The cam chain was knocking on the engine block because it was so lose and that was the noise. They quoted me around $1500 to do replace it.

Since the bike was only worth about $700 and I didn't have close to that amount I purchased a clymer manual and joined www.gsresources.com and began breaking into the engine myself. I found the cam chain to be within specifications and later discovered that the knocking was a thrown crankshaft bearing. Apparently High Five Cycles didn't do ANY WORK! I discovered this about a year after I took it to High Five Cycles. So I went to Al Lambs Honda and spoke with the manager about this and he informed me that it, "Wasn't his problem".

Al Lamb's Honda and High Five Cycles treat their customers very poorly and are basically thieves.

My name is Michael Campbell and my phone number is 214-577-5400 so Greg Ditch why dont you call me and explain this to me?

#2 UPDATE Employee

In response to David Lambreth's report

AUTHOR: Greg At Dallas Honda - (U.S.A.)

My name is Greg Ditch, I am the Business Manager at Al Lamb's Dallas Honda. I would like to respond to the article written by David Lambreth and his experience at our dealership. First, Al Lamb's Dallas Honda conducts business in a truthful and honest manner. The motorcycle Mr. Lambreth wanted to purchase was listed on ebay as well as listed in some local advertising medias. The motorcycle sold to a customer in our dealership after hours on a Saturday and the customer elected to pick up the bike the following Monday. When Mr. Lambreth arrived at the dealership Monday morning, it was shortly after we had opened not giving us the time to remove it from ebay (the bike was removed from ebay that afternoon once the customer from Saturday took possession of the bike). Mr. Lambreth was even given the option of taking that bike if the other customer changed his mind.

Mr. Lambreth threatened that if we did not meet his price (which was lower than our advertised price) he was going to write complaints to the Texas Motorcycle Dealer's Association, American Honda, various internet sites, and whoever else would post negative comments about us. Unfortunately, we had no more 2006 Interceptors we could sell him. We want the public to know that we conduct business in an honest and straight forward manner. Mr. Lambreth eventually accepted the fact he waited too long and missed the deal of a lifetime on this sale priced Interceptor and we agreed to sell him a newer model with the limited edition paint scheme at a comparable discount.

Dallas Honda is the #9 Honda dealership in the United States. We do not need to rely on deception and games, we simply offer straight forward deals. Call us for your next motorcycle at 972-619-2000.

I Always Find It Interesting

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

The guy states he can find it "in the region" for $7995 or $7999. "Brian called him back with $9194". "...returned with a sheet showing $9700". "Rob asked me to make an offer". "I asked them to match the $8k price that I had seen at other dealerships....". You already had a quote of $9194, THAT YOU DIDN'T ACCEPT and you offer him $494 LESS then what he had quoted you and then get upset that they didn't accept your offer of $8700. Buy it from one of the other dealers. Maybe they'll accept your offer. Years ago when I sold one of my houses, the buyers were interested in the bar stools. I told the agent $500. They came back with an offer of $300. I told the agent to tell the buyers the bar stools were now $750 for being cute and stupid. The bar stools were worth $500 a piece. I could have cared less whether they bought the bar stools or not. Kind of like the Honda dealer.
