Montana Exports Owner Al Montana claimed he had organised Insurance for our Motor Home-
Motor Home was damaged under his care-refuses to give us documentation and information about Insurance Company-to make a claim.
So far it has cost us $21,000 US Dollars to repair damage caused to engine by Impact and consequently oil leaked from sump and it was kept driving until engine siezed.

Also Al Montana claimed a starter motor was replaced and claimed it cost $1100-and to date has refused to forward all receipts.
Al Montana of Montana Exports has now gone to ground and has not responded to any of our correspondence for our requests for documentation etc.

To date we still do not have our Motor Home

Take this advice to be very careful dealing with Montana Exports and Al and Tandem Montana

Another Rip Off

AUTHOR: Ugly Betty - (Australia)

Al and Tandem Montana ignorance and arrogance, of my claim left me no alternative but to file a report with the Better Business Bureau in Los Angeles. This was done on 21st February 2012.
On 10th April 2012 Better Business Bureau
informed me that quote; "we are still in the process of obtaining the company's initial response".
On 24th April 2012 I was informed quote:"the issue is now being handled by the Trade Practice Department and they are trying to reach the company".
It seems very apparent that the Better Business Bureau and now the Trade Practice Department are exeriencing the same problems that I have since last June 2011 with communication from Al and Tandem Montana
I have referred to my update title as "another rip" for this report.
This time my rip off is because I am strill waiting for goods that Montana Exports took delivery of back in June 2011. Most of my property was received on 19th December 2011 in Sydney Australia.
However my "A Frame" was missing where Al Montana admitted that he forgot (or I should say he blamed another person for forgetting) to ship with the rest of my goods.
Since admitting to this back on or about 5th January 2012-all Al Montana has done on a couple of occasions is make promises to send. The last promise was on 3rd April 2012 when he said"will send in next week"-it is now 28th April and my A Frame is still at his yard in L.A. instead of being here for me to use. Al Montana in my opinion is all promises and no production especially what I have experienced over many many months, and with thousands and thousands of dollars lost due to his poor management and organisational skills. I will reinterate and in my opinion with all the horrible experience's I have suffered with Montana Exports to be very careful if you consider using Montana Exports Services. Please also note that there has been a previous compliant to the Better Business Bureau about this business

Satisfied Customer of Montana Exports

AUTHOR: Ugly Betty - (Australia)

I could be cynical enough to imply that you were asked to respond to my compliant about Montana Exports failing in our Transaction. One could be forgiven to think that you are Al Montana of Montana Exports "Stooge"!Seems very strange that a business man would be perusing a ripoff site in USA and found your friend Al Montana was being criticised.
We too were satisfied with Al & Tandem Montana of Montana Exports when we first experienced their services and I agree with what you have claimed.
However, you don't know how good a person/company is until they stuff-up with your goods/contract and boy has Montana Exports really stuffed-up with my contract/transaction with duty of care of goods in their position.
Al Montana was very much aware that if he did not come to some arrangement/agreement with his breech of duty of care I would be left no alternative but to report the incident.
There are a few areas of deep concern and I feel that the public should know for them to decide whether they should use Montana Exports to import/export-I will comment on a couple-
Why would this company as Montana Exports as I was led to believe, get one of his employee's to take out and insurance policy on my behalf for my Motor Home when I never dealt with this person- only Al Montana to whom I paid upfront into Montana Exports Bank Account for Insurances etc!. I have been informed all that was required was for Al Montana to have a drivers declaration form filled out!
Why was I charged hundreds of dollars for this Insurance while my Motor Home was in USA for it to be covered until exported-yet only 2 payments was paid for a total of $61.80 then Policy lasped- Insurance Company and Broker have both confirmed this-there were no further payments received at all. Which implies my Motor Home was uninsured!-
Al Montana after numerous requests for months-and on 20th January 2012- sent some Bank Statements from this "employee"-with the paid premium-these statements also have been confirmed-that they have nothing to do with the Motor Home as they were from another Broker, a different Insurance Company and for different goods insured as per Progressive Insurance Policy and Number supplied by Al Montana previously.
So here we go again-it seems as though Al is ducking and weaving and manipulating the documentation etc-I ask why he won't forward the original receipt for Insurance-I know why-because only $61.80 was paid and not the hundreds that he charged me.
This Insurance Policy, Al Montana for reasons only to him has refused us to make a claim for the damage to Motor Home-it concerns me that he perhaps does not have Company Insurance either-if he did why is it an issue for a claim for the damage-Breech of duty of care-as after all it was an accident while under his care!Imagaine if he had a $200,000 car that I bought at Auction and his factory burnt down or it was stolen from his premises-who would be liable!!I know Montana Exports would be-!-this is no different to my claim!
Then he tried to accuse me of breaking the contract-he is good at innuendos in that I organised the detailer to drive the Motor Home-this has been refuted in a detailed letter from the detailer which states that Al Montana had arranged the pick up of my Motor Home.
The
accident actually occured coming out of where Motor Home was stored by Al Montana. I will categorically state I did not know that Motor Home was stored at Willingham-I thought it was in Montana Exports yard at Carsen.
I hope you still have a good relationship with Al and Tandem Montana but my advice to you and anyone who reads this site is to be very careful of the unforseen ramifications imposed on you by Montana Exports
I will be relentless in my pursuit for justice
as I firmly believe that Montana Exports should be made responible for the damage to my Motor Home. I do have more "incidents" that occured by Motana Exports during the whole of the transaction, but will leave till a later date as I hope that Al and Tandem Montana will re-assess their position for the betterment of their business!-But I will not hold my breath.

Cummins 3208 Turbo diesel is $10,550 is the USA, so....

AUTHOR: Eric - (United States of America)

Like I said... $21,000 is too high for the informed consumer to pay...unless $10,000 labor is the going rate for an 8 hour installation, in Canada and Australia.

$21,000 for Engine Repair

AUTHOR: Ugly Betty - (Australia)

The engine suffered greatly and was unsalvagable-bearings were welded to crankshaft--as we say in Australia-"it was fur-coated"
The engine was replaced with a reconditioned 3208 Caterpillar with a 2 year world wide warranty.
The cost was as stated $21,000 US Dollars.
However one can add costs of incidentals to this total.
I have no need to fabricate the cost-especially when this site clearly states that the public must be informed of the truth.
Which I have done so.

Engine Cost

AUTHOR: Bubba Lee - (Canada)

A Cummins Diesel engine for a motor home that has been run out of oil will easily cost $21,000 or more to repair or replace.

Comment on what you know.

You claim you needed to repair the engine for $21,000? I'm sorry, but you are the one getting ripped off if that is what you are claiming for engine repair.

Satisfied customer of Montana Exports

AUTHOR: Craig Blomer - (Australia)

I have been a very satisfied client of Montana Exports for the last 15 years. I am the owner of an Australian export company and have tried several shippers over the past 15 years and I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to use their services. Al Montana is the most honest and trustworthy person that you will ever meet in this industry. He takes pride and is respectful in every task he performs in relation to the care and responsibility of other peoples items and valuable possessions. I have always found Al to be honest and reliable every dealing that we have had.

I read this posting and feel compelled to write about my dealings and experience with Montana Exports, as myself and many of my clients have always been completely satisfied with his services. The industry of exporting/shipping from country to country is one of the most complex industries there is. There are many parties involved in various facets of getting the job done. However, Montana Exports is one of the few that takes and shows responsibility for everything that is or needs to be done in order for them to fulfil their requirements of shipping an individuals goods. Responsibility needs to be on both parties in a transaction. The owner/client and the shipper/exporter. I hope that this client can appreciate that Montana Exports came very highly recommended to myself and I have no hesitation in recommending their services to anyone else. I have had nothing but complete professionalism, care and respect from Al Montana over the past 15 years and the volume of goods that I have had shipped. Nothing that I have ever asked of them has been a problem or hassle. It has always been over and beyond my expectations.

I wish Al and his team at Montana Exports every success for the future and I will continue to benefit for their excellent service.
