we hired two mini vans from sanford airport sept 08 this was our fourth trip using the same car rental depot.. everything was as normal except the assistant at the desk said we did not have gold insurance on one of the vans,, we did i made sure of it this time, because last time it was only silver and i had to pay an excess for fuel... i was told at that time how much it was going to cost and signed for it . well that was my mistake that time, but we paid cash to him because i did not want my card touching, with gold insurance you dont pay anything extra for fuel and you can have additional drivers which we needed because there were 15 of us and would be usefull for changing over drivers cos we were travelling a bit[sanford to miami and back][i checked with thomas cook on return and i had gold on both]
the assistant also said at the time regarding only one gold on one van, well he said i can sort this out for you, which i thought was nice of him. ?? i had it anyway
when we got home that week i noticed that alamo had taken $312,00 and $76.00 out of our bank account,, i queried this with thomas cook who looked into this for me
i have just had there response... they said we had signed for roadside assistance and personell protection,, i was at the desk so were 6 others no way did he mention this or an additional cost to any of us... it would have been up for disscussion and would have been refused if the cost was mentioned, we are all amazed and not stupid we are regular travellers so we know what goes in these rental places
i hate being duped this way, anyone else had similar experiences.
thomas cook has opened our file again? they closed it thinking it was a result..
well i dont think so
not sure though were to go with this one feel let down by alamo taking our money
