I wasn't sure how to send the overstock of products I had- which Donna talked me into getting, (saying that I would sell them so fast I would have to order more)---$1200 worth! Avon's collection agency quickly called me, but I was having sever migraine headaches at the time and even going out in sunlight triggered them- not to mention the non-stop collection calls added stress, causing even more headaches, usually 3-5 daily.
Anyway, I finally talked to a really nice man, Mr. Rogers, with American Systems in Columbus, who was really helpful. He explained the easiest way to send the products back, and he told me that after Avon received my products worth $1600. that my account would be closed and taken care of. So I shipped the products back and called Mr. Rogers with the UPS tracking numbers. He said thanks and that my account would be closed.
WRONG! About 10 days after Avon received the products, I started getting phone calls from Allied Data Corporation. The first person I spoke with, Elaine Robinson, was so rude and mean! She told me that if I didn't send in several pre-dated checks to pay the bill in full, that I would be sued.
She tried to force me to "promise" to send the checks to her by certified mail, and that once they received them, they would hold them until Avon verified the dollar amount of the products I returned, that Avon would send me a refund check. Yeah right! I told her that I would have to get back with her- I'm not that stupid!
Then about 5 days later I had a message on my answering machine from Allied Data, stating that I had to call them back before noon the next day or they would see me in court. That wasn't enough time to contact anyone and find out why Avon was trying to take me to court.
I called Allied Data the next morning and spoke to Mr. Jones, who informed me that he didn't care that I sent the products back to Avon and had a receipt, or that Mr. Rogers had said that my account was closed- he said Mr. Rogers was a fool and should lose his job because he was lying.
Then this Mr. Jones said that he was a "legal person" and that I would have to get a lawyer to settle this. I told him that I couldn't afford a lawyer, and he said that I would save time and money if I just gave them the money, and that if I did get a lawyer, he would take me to court and I would have to pay Allied Data's lawyer fees! I told him I was going to call Avon and find out the problem.
Oh, I called Avon. About 23 times in 2 hours! I never got a straight answer, and I called Avon's collection department and left messages 4 times in 1 day- and they haven't called me back to this day. I called Mr. Rogers, who was so helpful, and he said that he couldn't find a reason on my account for it to have been sent to Allied Data, and not to worry because Avon probably didn't go through the products yet and wait 2 weeks.
I contacted my district manager, Marilyn Wilson, and I talked to her assistant who promised to have Marilyn call me back. She never did. I got an email from the assistant asking me to detail what was going on and that my email would be sent to Marilyn. That was in October, and I haven't heard a word from anyone to this day.
Mr. Jones started calling me every single day, leaving messages that if I didn't contact them by the next day at noon, I would be sued. I talked to him several times, and he told me that I would be taken to court and there was no way I would win any kind of judgement, and that Allied Data would take my 2004 income tax return. I called a tax lawyer and talked to her, and the lawyer informed me there was no way Allied Data could do that. I still am worring about that now!
So I called Mr. Jones and told him that I didn't appreciate being harrassed, and he said that Allied Data would make it a lot worse for me. Isn't that nice! He also said that in my contract it said that I had 10 days or else Avon wouldn't take the products back. I had my contract handy, so I asked him were that was stated. He said that it was under section 2, other provisions, part G. This is what it says on my contract: "For residents of Alaska, Hawaii and Guam only- to pay Avon applicable shipping fees. All locations charge shipping fees for immediate shipment of addditional orders." When I read this to Mr. Jones, he said that apparently I couldn't read. Isn't that cute? (I have my contract here if anyone would like me to fax them a copy to prove it to them!) I informed Mr. Jones that I would have to get back with him.
I finally got a hold of a woman named Becky at Avon, and she looked at my account and said that Allied Data was a collection agency, and that Avon was NOT taking me to court, and that Mr. Jones was just using "scare tactics" to try and force me to pay, and that I shouldn't worry about it, because Avon would take care of it.
My mother finally emailed Avon, and the reply she got was funny! They said thank you for your concerns, and that Avon would do everything they could to resolve the problem. I still get the run-around from them. That has been going on since October, and I am still getting 5 calls a week from Allied Data.
Avon is a mean and selfish evil empire. All they care about is MONEY MONEY MONEY. And anyone who says different, well, just wait until you are seriously screwed, too. I was constantly pressured to recruit, which I didn't do. Avon doesn't care if there are 100 reps within a 20 mile-radius, as long as they are bringing in the money!
I am thinking about getting people together that have suffered the same thing I have and starting a class-action lawsuit against Avon and Allied Data. If you are interested, please add to this post!
I really liked selling Avon, but I didn't want to recruit a lot of people so I was slowly pushed out of the "circle". Avon wasn't started for the sole purpose of money; it was to get quality products at home and to have women working for them. But the jewelry is crap and the makeup isn't as great as I thought it was going to be. I had many customers complain about the quality of the products. I even have a pair of sandals returned because they came apart the day the woman wore them- she never got her sandals, either!
Well, I don't think there is anything I left out. I have really been hurt by Allied Data and Avon, and I have tried so many damn times to fix this, and NO ONE will even try to help me.
I did what Avon's first collection agency asked me to do, and I have the contract I signed. The only thing on it that mentions sending products back to Avon is that I have to return products within 6 months after terminating my relatinship with Avon to send products back for resale. I did that in plenty of time- products were in perfect condition! Oh well, not much I can do now. The rich rake in the money, and step all over us little people because they can. That's the American way now, huh?

I started with AVON in July 06. Unlike a lot of other reps, I had no trouble getting lots of paying customers. I worked hard everyday for AVON as a full time job. My problem was not getting customers, it was keeping them, through no fault of my own, rather AVON's.
To make a long story short- They make it impossible to sell their products, products that most of the time, they do not have themselves! (I will be posting my own Rip-off Report on AVON shortly after this is made. It may take a day or two to show up, I'm not sure, but please take the time to follow up on it.)
Mainly, I have a lot of the same complaint's as those mentioned here- AVON saying they did not receive my return's, me not receiving my orders for my paying customer's, unit leaders and district managers, plus AVON's supervisors not returning my phone calls. Also, be very aware of their billing department. I had to call(# is long distance by the way) about every single one of my statements because I had been overcharged, most of the time, more than once on a single statement. The last straw came when they sent one of my checks through the bank twice, causing not just theirs, but several others to bounce!
Now, it looks as if I have more to worry about- Allied harrassing me over a balance that isn't even correct. There is one thing I already have on my side, I know that just because AVON, or anyone else who works for, or is associated with AVON, tells you something, does not mean it is true. I know that just because you call to straighten out an error that is their own fault and they tell you "Dont worry, we will fix it," does not mean that you can sigh a breath of relief, it means your battle has just begun and good luck.

I am not Ms. White. I ignored the message. Monday August 14, 2006 Ms. Carter phone again. I took the call, explained I was not Ms. White and Ms. Carter told me I was Ms. White and that she would be calling me everyday until I paid my Avon bill.
I request the caller's name, company name and telephone number. Ms. Carter informed me if I called the phone number she gave me I would be routed back to her. I explained to Ms. Carter she needed to stop calling me I was not Ms. White and I don't even know a Ms. White. I hung up on Ms. Carter called 1-800-275-7176 and explained what Ms. Carter was doing, I considered that harassment and I wanted them to direct Ms. Carter to stop calling me.
Today, Wednesday August 16, 2006 Ms. Carter called me again. I told Ms. Carter she needed to stop calling me and again Ms. Carter assured me she would be calling me everyday. I told her oh no missy you will not be calling me everyday.
I told her I intend to report you to every governing agency I could find and she had better stop calling me. I called the 800# again, and spoke with Sonia and she put me in a supervisors, Tim Weber, voice mail. I left a message telling Mr. Weber Ms. Carter needed to stop calling me and I am not Ms. White.
So, in conclusion Allied Data has expanded their harassment past the general Avon community and have reached out to harass people not even connected to Avon.
I am very interested in any and all information, law suits or any other action to see that Allied Data pay a consequence for their actions.
I was surprised that a company claiming to be woman friendly is connected to such a vicious collection agency, although their Katrina behavior should have been the last straw after I went through the same complaints I read above-DM never returns calls, accounting department uses 'new' math AKA 'creative accounting' and when I said I wasn't interested in building a team of my own, was pretty much ignored by the company unless it was order/pay-up time. And then they sick Allied on me like a tag team of rabid pit bulls! This after I kept contacting them, trying to do the right thing.
I've begun the process to enter a debt management program through a local non-profit agency here in metro Atlanta, and am going to list Avon, too, because I feel I do owe them some money since I can't prove I sent the inventory back; I am not trying to get out of it. I still buy the product too, it is the only make-up that doesn't break me out. But I made sure my new Avon rep had her head screwed on straight before I gave her an order. I don't need Avon badly enough to inadvertantly get someone else on the receiving end of Allied, which is apparently Avon's collection pit bulls of choice. What a shame!

Allied Data Corp-Avon

I phoned the number that she left and came up with Allied Data Corp. This person gave me no identifying information. I do not return calls to anyone for an unknown reason.
I checked online and found this site. I am now assuming this is an Avon matter. I was a representative and was doing rather well until I signed up to be an electronic rep. Avon included personal information on the web site and I was constantly being contacted via e-mail and telephone about large orders that they wanted me to ship overseas on a credit card.
I did some research and found out that this was a known fraudulent activity. I contacted Avon several times both via telephone and online. When someone finally returned my call I was told that Avon was aware of this happening. I told them that I thought it was wrong of them to know about these things going on and not warning the representatives of potential liability. I resigned right then and there.
At that time I had quite a bit of inventory that I had ordered with that campaign. I have been trying to figure out how to return it to Avon ever since and still receive credit for the items.
After reading this site, I see that I am in for being harrassed for quite some time. I hope to nip it in the bud by sending a decease and desist letter.
I am all for adding my name to your list if you are interested in doing some sort of class action case. I also intend on filing my own rip-off report tomorrow.
I just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the scam that someone was trying to pull on me. If you are an Avon rep and someone trys to call with an unusually large order to be sent overseas with payment being made with a credit card, do not fall for it. They were also calling me via relay calls. This is a service for the hearing impaired to communicate on the telephone. They called at all hours of the day and night.

Well, now I know who's calling and why...
AUTHOR: Wendy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, March 07, 2006
But, I had her email - like with others, she never responded, pretended I had never emailed her - yet she'd emailed me once, so I know her email worked. But, by the time I finally did get a real job, full time (my 1-year anniversary was today!), I was so far behind on other things that I couldn't pay even the measly $58. I've been getting mystery phone calls lately saying that I needed to have my attorney call them at XXX-whatever, except, they never said WHO they were calling - just "your attorney needs to call us".
Well, there is more than one person in this house and they EVER identified who they are, why they were calling, and WHOSE attorney they expected to call them. Then, today they finally gave the name of their organization (Allied Data Corp.) saying I needed to call them by noon tomorrow - yet, still without identifying who the call was for or why. As far as I'm concerned, their message is meaningless because no one here knows who they're calling about or for or whose debt it is.
Until they do that, they can stick it. But, I can see by their MO and the repetitive phrasing that it's probably me being called about the AVON debt. What a bunch of idiots - apparently, they get enough people to pay that their illegal methods are still worth using. I don't deny owing money - I just want someone to say WHO they are and WHO they're calling and WHY they're calling. Not be mysterious and pretend to be more important than they are and assume there is only one possible recipient of their message. Morons!!

I feel sorry for anyone who gets involved with Avon without knowing how they really are.
To the rebuttal from Avon Rep: I did put A LOT of work into selling, my husband even complained that he was sick of me being obsessed with Avon. You are VERY lucky to have leaders that aren't pressuring you. I just hope that you don't have to go through what many of us have had to deal with.
Avon is a reputable company and you only get what you put into it.

Allied Data AKA Allied Interstate SCUM
AUTHOR: S - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, January 20, 2005
Print a cease and desist letter from this website and send it immediately with return verification. These guys are also known as Allied Interstate, one of the biggest loser collection agencies out there. They are being investigated in most states, so check with your atty general in your state to see if yours is one of them. They have been stopped from doing business in many states, and have changed their name to try to avoid the taint of Allied Interstate.
Also, next time they call, tell them that you have contacted your Atty General and that you are taping this conversation. They will hang up faster than the speed of light. they canot garnish your wages without a COURT ORDER, and to get that, they have to prove that you owe! And if it ever came down to court, which it won't because its too expensive, al you would have to do is prove with your receipts and the judge will laugh them out of the room. But they don't take people to court. They rather get their jollies out of calling and harrassment. Sad, really.
Put a fraud alert on your credit through the three credit bureaus. And tell Allied that your much more knowledgable now about them and won't fall for their BS. AND DON'T SETTLE EVER. They will sell the balance to another credit agency and you will go through hell with them too!
They haven't given up on you yet because you have called them back and talked to them reasonably. To them, that means LIVE BAIT. Do not give them the satisfaction and protect your rights!
