Alltel refused to remove a collection placed on my credit file. Once I discovered it was due I paid full amount, which they reported as a settlement. This was not a settled amount it was the full balance. This is not the only problem. First, a representative with Alltel allowed a family member to make a change on my account without my authorization. This changed cause me a tremendous headache in that when the change took affect the company merged with ATT and left an amount of 114.00 which was left for me to pay.
I never knew about the amount because of the changes made to the account without my knowledge. I found out about the past due thru my credit monitoring service by mail showing this collection. The bill had been going to the family member all along because I set the account up originally to add my family member. When I left the company, I then allowed my family member to continue having the account since they were unable to get an account without a deposit due to lack of credit. This family member I believed in and didnt ever see this coming.
My mistake was allowing them to disrespect my credit. The change was my contact phone number, this was the only way Alltel could contact me with changes to account by the family member, which they had always done in the 4years the account was active. The change came from an Alltel rep who took it upon themselves to make those changes which ultimately cause me to have a blemish on my credit that was not my fault. Alltel is making me pay for a wrong that is their fault. They refuse to remove it from my credit file and Im totally furious and plan to do what is needed to have this removed.
I will not EVER do business with them again. I hope to be apart of a class action suit against them......You don't give out personal information on someones account, then not want to rectify it. I have no respect for this company and urge others to beware. I should have never had to even pay the amount it wasn't my charge it was the family members charge, but I paid it because I took responsibility, Alltel needs to do the same....I have made numerous calls to Alltel and even wrote a letter to the CFO of Alltel, I heard absolutely NOTHING...they could care less...they got their money and don't give a sh*t about me....
