I bought an Audi A8 in April of 2013.  The dealer sold me the A La Car bumper to bumper Alpha Warranty for $3900.  The warranty was paid in full (cash).

during a trip to Florida in the vehicle the A/C began to blow hot air.  I took the car to the dealer and was given a repair bill for $780, which Alpha promptly denied, citing a "pre-exsisting" condition not covered by the warranty.  I chalked this up and paid out of pocket.

Sometime and about 1500 miles later, I took the car back to the dealer for a noise coming from the front suspension.  I was told that the wheel bearing need to be replaced to the tune of $1000 arts and labor.  This claim was also summarily denied by Alpha Warranty.  The service writer was so astonished that he stated "Your service contract is not worth the paper it's printed on".

Alpha states that every condition is "pre-exsisting"...this is total bull.  They know that the only cars apt to not have any conditions that have been intiated by prior use are Brand New cars, yet they still take your money to warranty used vehicles.  My car had 91,000 miles at purchase.  it now has 96,000 miles and apparently does not qualify for any repairs to be covered under the warranty.  

I WILL get a full refund or will make it my business to sue them for blatant breach of contract.

We regret hearing that this customer wasn’t happy with his claims experience. We have had a chance to review his concerns and would like to provide some additional details missing from the concern mentioned above.

The customer did purchase our A La Car coverage. This coverage is definitely not a “bumper to bumper” service contract. In fact, it covers the powertrain and other specifically stated components. This service contract is what is referred to as a stated component coverage meaning it only lists the components that are specifically covered. This is a great coverage but does not cover everything. We do offer our New Car Program which covers almost all mechanical components on a vehicle but that coverage is only eligible to newer vehicles. This Audi had 91,000 miles on it at the time of purchase.

The reason the pressure cycling switch and wheel bearing were denied was because they simply are not listed components on this coverage. Neither claim was denied as pre-existing. They simply were not covered components under this customer’s service contract.

We regret his frustration but wish to point out that these complaints filed online amount to less than .001% of all service contracts that we provide. We have an A+ rating with the BBB and have been chosen as a top service contract provider by several companies.
