My Verison bill for Feb-March includes $177.25 in charges for two calls allegedly made to 900-226-1768 number on 16 February. Neither my wife nor I ever use 900 numbers and one ripoffreport about this company suggests that the calls may have been over a modem after one of our computers became infected with an Alyon computer file related to an adult site.

I have no idea what has happened, but have already submitted to indicated to the State of Georgia Consumer Affairs Dept a photocopy of my bill and indicated my willingness to make any deposition that would assist them in their on-going investigation of Alyon.

I have also gotten Verison to block all 900 calls from this address.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

How low will they go?

AUTHOR: Jared - (U.S.A.)

I have been wondering why files have been mysteriously appearing deeply rooted within my computer's hard drive with names like

"U03_aGNicDoQBlQrFnmHxH0XBDBv"
or
"U03_kGhFeaEAZUKxZ5h8R9FwQwb"
or
"U03_RmJhA2oQBlQrFnmHxH0XBDBv"

Which make it virtually impossible to detect via using your hard drives search function.

I am very adept in computer coding, I see this as a corporate hack, in otherwords, it modifies your computer without your consent or even your knowledge of it happening.

http://www.xupiter.com

has also been known to use such applications that install themselves and even run themselves without your being aware.

I have a method to temporarily stop their efforts, though it does not stop you from being reinfected.

Go into My computer, then into your C:// drive.

Go into the folder titled "windows"

and look for a folder titled "HTML Access"

They titled it as they have with the intent of making it seem like a legitimate and neccessary folder. It is not.

Delete the folder.

Then right click on the window, chooses to make a new folder, title it "HTML Access".

Don't put anything in it. The next time they try and install the software on your computer, it will not lt them without your consent, it wil ask you, "A file by the name 'HTML Access already exists, would you like to replace it?". Say no, and the programs will not be installed. Of course it is only temporary as they will eventually change the name of the folder they install onto your computer along with the names of the files within that folder.
I hope this helps to some extent.
