Just writing to voice my complaint about Amana appliances
and their "former" reputation as being a quality manufacturer.

Bought an Amana range in December of 2000. It was delivered broken and has electronic problems the last three months.(immediately after the warranty expired of course)

Just want to mention that I previously had good luck with
Kenmore products, and thought I'd move up a notch by going
to the high priced, supposed, high quality Amana line.
This decision has proved that you don't always get what you
pay for.

Your response that an appliance is only made to last 6 years is unbelievable. Maybe that is what amana thinks but I don't think that is what the buying public believes to be true. If amana can't make an appliance to last at LEAST ten years than then they should get out of the business. You must have been overworked with amana and quit.

Stephen is a repair man, so of course he supports the scam that appliances should break after 3 years. What he leaves out is what to do when, after 3 years, the manufacturer AMANA makes an ESSENTIAL PART UNAVAILABLE. I have a $1000 refrigerator that is USELESS because the evap motor is no longer available. Hey, Amana, turn around, I want to give this part back to you.

i work for an appliance parts and service center and we repair amana brand units. just for your information we have been in business for over 20 years and i have been a servicer for that long, so i know what i am talking about.

these types of complaints are SO ANNOYING. ok sir, listen very carefully to me... YOU DID NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM AMANA. amana does NOT sell directly to the public, at all. you bought an appliance from a dealer or distributor, and THAT COMPANY DAMAGED YOUR APPLIANCE DURING DELIVERY. your complaint against amana is unjustified. your only legitimate complaint is against the INDIVIDUALLY OWNED COMPANY you bought the unit from, who delivered it.

and for your information, the life of the average appliance (depending on use) is 6-8 years. appliances are NOT made the way they used to be. it is completely normal to see some problems with any type of appliance after 3 years, especially when it is a "high use" appliance such as a washing machine, or range. your comment regarding the warranty is accusatory and ridiculous. you seriously think that there is a some sort of conspiracy to manufacture appliance parts that can somehow know when your warranty happens to run out and go defective at that time? that is insane. if a part becomes defective, that is life. these parts are not made to last forever (it's impossible to make flawless parts) and there are HUNDREDS of circumstances and variables that come into play and could cause a problem.

voltage inconsistances, a lightning strike 5 blocks from your house, power outages, etc etc. the list goes on and on and ALL of these things can cause problems with electronic equipment. i know because i encounter such repairs on a daily basis. it is not some grand plan that amana has to sabotage your appliance. ok? that is ridiculous and you need to wake up.

and i would "just like to mention" (what do you work for whirlpool?) that kenmore appliances (owned and manufactered BY whirlpool) have just as many problems, INCLUDING THIS ONE. kenmore appliances are not somehow immune to the problems you describe, despite what you seem to think. these problems occur with every brand. i have encountered it with EVERY BRAND.

so again, you need to wake up. before you slander a reputable company like amana (owned by maytag incidentally) you should take the time to look at the situation. your complaint about the warranty and electrical problems are uninformed and ludicrous. and you complain against amana is completely invalid. your ONLY valid complaint is against the SELLER of the unit, if they in fact damaged the unit during delivery. DO NOT SLANDER COMPANIES THAT ARE NOT AT FAULT. that is misleading and shameful.
