Amazon online offers a free 3-month trial of Amazon Prime which gives you free 2-day shipping and other benefits. They state, "As the 3-month free trial period ends, if you want to join Amazon Prime, do nothing. At that point, we will enroll you in a 12-month membership and charge a $79 annual fee to the credit card...."

They further state that they make it easy to cancel before the trial ends and will even send you a reminder.

The facts, they charge you the $79 immediately. You only get a refund of the $79 during your Free 3-Month Trial if you have NOT USED the service during that three months. (These stipulations are listed on another page and not stated clearly.) Very deceptive.

Amazon's correspondence conflicting

AUTHOR: Tricia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 12, 2006

Amazon sent me an email saying they had charged my credit card a $79 membership fee but because I had not used the service would credit my account in 2 to 3 business days.

After I complained about the deception, they wrote and said they had not charged my card.
