I have been a customer of Ambit Energy for a few months. I switched to them from a previous carrier due to the rates per kwh. My first two bills were really low but then on my third bill it jumped over $100. But my complaint is not with that.
My complaint is that I received a disconnect notice for my service. This company offer no extensions for not even a day to pay the bill, they only offer a plan to pay 60% upfront and the remaining a few days later. Well, don't you think if I had the 60% I would just pay the entire bill. Well, I needed help on one of my bills due to a unexpected situation that arised in that month.
I had until a certain day to pay the bill or my services will be cutoff the next day. Well, my services were not and I paid my bill that morning. I had accumulated a reinstatement fee, a new deposit, and a reconnect fee that added $192.07 more than my bill. Remind you my services were not disconnected I still had lights.
I called the company to discuss removing those charges considering I satisfied my entire bill amount. I spoke to a rep, he was ok but not really and then I asked to speak to a supervisor he would not let me he spoke to them and came back to the phone to let me know that there was nothing that could be done about the charges. It was only until I was really perturb with this individual that he finally put my call into a supervisor cue.
I spoke to the supervisor and she was no help. I was only asking for a one time courtesey to remove the additional fees that was tacked onto my bill if my lights were disconnected but they were still on. She told me since the request was sent already it was nothing they could do. This really sucks and I strongly believe it a sorry move to get customers to pay more money. I would have had no problem paying the fees if my lights were off but they were not off.
This is a company that is only looking for a way to get more money out of their customers. I will switch immediately.
